A Russian newspaper editor has been fined 50,000 roubles (£860) under the ‘gay propaganda’ law for printing that “being gay is normal”.

Alexander Suturin, the editor-in-chief of newspaper Molodoi Dalnevostochnik (above), was found guilty of breaking the law, as the article propagated “homosexual relations”. In being found guilty, his newspaper became the first media outlet to have been found in breach of the law.

Karen Fitzpatrick, of RTÉ, writes:

The Walshes are a warm, tight-knit family from the West Dublin suburb of Strollinstown. Tony (Niall Gaffney) and Carmel (Philippa Dunne) are parents to Ciara (Amy Stephenson) and Rory (Rory Connolly), who are both still at home because the state of the Irish economy has forced them all back together.

Even Ciara’s new boyfriend Graham (Shane Langan) is forced to move in and family friend Martin (Owen Roe) always seems to be hanging around mending bits and pieces, as well as accidentally becoming trapped in the wall cavity.

Website Lovin’ Dublin’s Niall Harbison has created five music playlists from ‘Dublin’s hippest restaurants’, namely FAAT BAAT, on Dawson St; Whitefriar Grill, on Aungier Street; JoBurger, Castle Market; Skinflint, Crane Lane, and Dillingers in Ranelagh.

He writes:

Restaurants know that if they play hip music they’ll attract the cool young people and drastically improve the image of their venue. I’d go as far as saying music is a good 20% of the overall experience especially for a younger crowd. If you are like me and you listen to music all day in work or if you just want to get transported to your favourite hip restaurant from the comfort of your home then check these epic playlists that some of Dublin’s hippest restaurants have shared with us. You too can ooze coolness by slapping these on and playing them for your friends.

Lovin’ Dublin’s community manager Nicola McNally has then created ONE playlist of all the songs.

Listen to the five separate playlists here.

For the first time in five years, the waters of lake Superior in Northwest Wisconsin have frozen solid enough to allow access to the ice caves at the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.

With an estimated 1000 people a day visiting, the caves could remain accessible for another month.

British nuclear reprocessing plant Sellafield said it had detected “high levels of radioactivity at one of its on-site monitors and was operating at reduced staffing levels.

Relax.

Rory O’Neill (no really) of Sellafield assures us:

“One of the 20-odd site perimeter monitors that we have is registering above normal levels of radiation. It’s not a level that would trigger any kind of activity on or off site. It’s below levels that would demand us to do sheltering or anything like that.”

Above normal?

Sheltering??
