Last week, with a free family pass to see the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ this Friday at the Dublin Horse Show on offer, we asked you:

Why you would deserve such a prize?

‘Neighbour from Heaven’ won the pass with this desperate plea:

“Not wishing to be pushy, but I deserve the family ticket as my landlord has decided to sell up. The wife and our two kids have been lucky to find a new place to reside but the rent increases by €300 a month. We both work full time and any savings are now going to be lost on rent. She’s horse mad. Please give her something nice. Please :(“

Thanks all

Last week” Where’s Me Showjumper

Graham writes:

I lknow you don’t normally do this but I lost my phone last Saturday night in Malahide, [Dublin 13] or in the taxi that dropped me back to [nearby] Bayside

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7, it’s not in a case but it is in good condition except for a small chip to the screen. The only identifiable mark is a sticker on the back with a barcode and IMEI number.

The phone itself wouldn’t turn on for me (which is why I took it out of its case) but it contains a micro SD card with all my photos on it. No luck at Garda station or cab company.

Most of the photos are of my son since birth, and it was his 1st birthday this weekend so the photos are a particularly big loss…

Anyone?

Did you stay in?

A big thank you to, clockwise from to left: Johnny keenan, celebrity accountant Vanessa Foran, ‘Preposterous‘, Kevin Higgins, Stephen Garland and Luke Brennan, our panel on last night’s ‘Broadsheet on the Telly’.

The, show can be viewed in its entirety above.

Lawyer Kevin, who advises the Tuam Survivors Network, returned to take us through the stand=off in Tuam and Terry Prone’s role advising both the nuns and the government.

Stephen, who suffers primary progressive MS, gave us an update on his condition while Vanessa and Johnny shared their review of Stephen’s one-man show in Longford ahead of a run at the Edinburgh Festival. Luke, meanwhile, showed us his latest etching.

Some light swearing.

Sorry.

Why: “This is the story of an Irish woman who went to live in a Buddhist monastery in Japan. It is full of unexpected detail – lots of sweeping and struggling to meditate mixed in with moments of euphoria and humour and fun. At the end of her time there, she really seemed to have attained wisdom and although the monks wanted her to stay on as their leader, she decided her future lay at home.  Sadly, she was killed in a bus accident in Thailand, on holiday before returning to Ireland. It struck me at the time as a huge loss, but I also felt her life had been complete.”

What it meant to me: “It felt honest and real, full of insights and a beautiful read (probably a bit of escapism there too). I came across it randomly in a bookshop and consider it a wonderful find.”

Who would like it: “Anyone who loves the idea of such an intense spiritual experience, but suspects the rigours of monastery life would defeat them within a week.”
