This morning.

Via BBC:

Dr Anne McCloskey, a former Aontú councillor, expressed concerns about young people being given the vaccine.

The Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) and Western Urgent Care (WUC), where Dr McCloskey works, are now investigating, the Belfast Telegraph has reported.

Dr McCloskey told BBC News NI that she stands by her comments.

In the nine-minute video, posted on Sunday, she made a number of claims including that there is not enough evidence that it is safe for young people to be vaccinated.

Dr McCloskey said she was “distraught” by the number of young people “damaged” by “unlicensed and unapproved” vaccines.

She said many young people have been “coerced, bribed or bullied” into being vaccinated and that vaccines are “malevolent”.

That’ll learn her.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan

Last night/this morning.

Chielf Medical Officer at the Department of Health, Dr Tony Holohan said:

“Over the course of the last seven days, 32 people with Covid-19 were admitted to critical care facilities and today, there are a total of 60 people with Covid-19 receiving critical care.

“The median age of those in ICU is 55 – this means that 50% of the patients currently in ICU with Covid-19 are aged less than 55 years.”

Dr Holohan added:

“While our vaccination programme continues to offer great hope, at this point in time, only 53% of 16 to 29 year-olds are fully vaccinated. This age group continues to account for the highest incidence of Covid-19 in our population.”

Half of Covid ICU patients under 55, says Holohan (RTÉ)

Last week, with a A2 limited edition giclée print, “Fox Family, St. Patrick’s Cathedral” (above) by artist Dora Hurley from the Jam Art Factory on offer, we asked for your best story, anecdote or memory about city-dwelling animals.

There were many excellent tails tales, but Mark at Jam Art was particularly taken by Paddy Apathy‘s entry.

Paddy wrote:

‘I Shared a flat with my sister and her boyfriend when I came to Dublin first, spring 1990, Leinster Road. Every other morning I heard muffled woo-hoo type noises from their bedroom, which I understood to be them having a morning shag. After a couple of horrified weeks they decided to go away for the weekend. But that Saturday morning I heard the same woo-hoo noises. Intrigued and more than a little curious I went into their room, no-one there. I opened the curtains. To my surprise and delight I found a lone pigeon perched there doing what pigeons do I suppose. Woo-hoo, woo-hoo.’

Well done, Paddy and thanks all

New Zealand

New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern (above) has extended the country’s harsh Covid lockdown until at least Friday.

Via Mail Online:

While New Zealand has been one of the most successful countries in battling the Coronavirus, their vaccination rates remain low with only about 20% of people fully vaccinated.

The strict lockdown means most people must remain at home, leaving only to buy groceries or medicine, or to exercise.

The lockdown extension has been harshly condemned by opposition leader Judith Collins: ‘At a time when New Zealanders have the harshest lockdown in the world and have lost our freedoms because of the government’s failure to vaccinate and secure the border, this move by Jacinda Ardern is unfathomable.’
