Architect and illustrator Rafael Aruajo is something of a Zen master when it comes to the Golden Ratio and its manifestation in the natural world. Sez he:

I was 15 when I started noticing intelligent patterns in the world of nature—spirals, sequences, proportions. This secret of nature’s beautiful designs unfolded before my very eyes. Everything I draw is by hand. I don’t use a computer, just a pencil, compass, and a protractor.

His meditative process will soon be available in the form of the Golden Ratio Colouring Book (currently massively overfunded on Kickstarter).

A floating sculpture made from 12,000 foam kick boards by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman at an old amphitheatre in Wuzhen near Shanghai.

When the artist visited the site last year, he described it as a ‘ kind of sea-world with a dolphin or a killer whale missing that could emerge from the water at any minute’

The giant fish (a nod to local folklore) was created for the town’s annual art festival.
