Behold: the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster – a topless Aventador with a carbon fibre roof panel that stows in the front luggage compartment.

Lamborghini’s ‘active aero’ system keeps things calm in the cockpit at speed but o therwise, the 770bhp V12 retains the nippy 350km/h top speed and 2.9s 0-100km/h acceleration of its solid-topped sister.

Your for a sun-kissed €512,000+.

Behold: the Koenigsegg Jesko Coupe, just debuted at the Geneva 2019 Motor Show- a monstrous 1578bhp, 5.0l, twin turbo V8 aluminium hypercar that will accelerate to a world-beating 480km/h (300mph), powered by copious draughts of E85 biofuel.

An additional electric motor spools the turbos for lag-free power delivery and Koenigsegg’s proprietary 9-speed ‘Light Speed’ transmission allows for near instant switching from any gear to any other gear.

Yours for around €2.5 million.

The city of El Alto, 4,150m above sea level in the Bolivian Andes, is the world’s highest municipality and home to the distinctive buildings of architect and former bricklayer Freddy Mamani Silvestre.

Dozens of Silvestre’s multi-use structures tower above their more conventional neighbours, inspired not by Las Vegas (as many visiting North Americans suppose) but by the vibrant Incan art of Bolivia’s pre-Columbian history.

Behold: the Aston Martin Vanquish Vision – a conceptual mid-engined (Aston Martin’s first) performance car designed to be produced in volume (unlike most of the maker’s limited edition hypercars).

Aside from its aerodynamic shape and proposed aluminium chassis, little is known about this future rival to the Ferrari F8 and McLaren 720 but it’s slated for launch in 2021.

With relaxation space on the lower level and sleeping quarters above, the Dolomite Treehouses, designed by architect Peter Pichler, are a series of (conceptual for now) triangular cabins envisioned as satellite suites for an existing hotel.

Sustainably clad in local fir and larch, they’re perched in a forest in North east Italy with spectacular views of  the surrounding mountain range.

The annual walkabout of Les Empaillés – grotesques enveloped in 30kg of sacking and straw  who roam around the Swiss municipality of Evolène on Carnaval Sunday – their demonic mugs scaring off evil spirits in a Celtic tradition dating back to the Bronze Age.

The figure on the left in the top pic is their friend, la Peluche.

But you knew that.
