Fianna Fáil TD Jim O’Callaghan

This morning.

RTÉ Radio One’s Today with Claire Byrne

The Dublin Bay South TD said that ratings in an opinion poll last weekend were “disappointing”, and that the party needs to “protect and emphasise its identity”.

He said “for the interest of Ireland” the Fianna Fáil party “has to survive“.

“We are centre ground, centre left national party, that wants to reunify the country, build public housing, reward hard work, protect the vulnerable, the Irish language and save our environment.”

He said if the party does not survive, Ireland will have a political system similar to that of the US, the UK and Northern Ireland….

FIGHT!

Now not the time for change in Fianna Fáil leadership – O’Callaghan (RTÉ)

This afternoon.

Via RTÉ:

NPHET is meeting today and is expected to make recommendations, which would be considered by the new Covid-19 oversight group this afternoon.

The special Cabinet Covid-19 Sub-Committee is then scheduled to meet tomorrow.

Arising from its discussions it is likely that the Cabinet would then make a final decision later tomorrow evening.

Minister for Justice Helen McEntee has sad that if NPHET advises further Covid-19 restrictions for Dublin, the Government will respond accordingly.

Any additional Dublin measures would be in place by weekend (RTÉ)

Gary T writes:

If NPHET advises further restrictions the government ‘will respond accordingly’.

Therefore, why the hell do you have go through two oversight committees and a full cabinet before relaying that advice to the public?

Anyone?

Unlike the Ferrari F140 V12 power plant of the company’s last offering, the MC20 has a twin-turbo V6 Nettuno, making 630bhp, 100km/h in 2.7s and a top speed of 325km/h.

Last night.

Former US House Speaker Newt Gingrich was cut off by a Fox News panel after linking George Soros to the instances of violence that have happened at Black Lives Matter protests in American cities.

Via Newsweek:

Gingrich claimed that the “number one problem” in cities like Portland, New York and around the country which have seen protests against police brutality since late May due to the killing of George Floyd, is “George Soros-elected, anti-police, pro-criminal district attorneys who refuse to keep people locked up”.

The Fox News host Melissa Francis then said: “I’m not sure we need to bring George Soros into this. I was going to say you get the last word, speaker…”, to which Gingrich continued to claim that Soros paid for the protests, asking why couldn’t the “millions of dollars” be discussed on the panel.

“No, he didn’t,” said one of the other panellists. “I agree with Melissa that he didn’t need to be a part of this conversation”.

Gingrich then said: “Okay… so it’s verboten.”

More To Life – Living the best life in County Mayo.

Last month, The Western Development Commission launched a video campaign to showcase the career and lifestyle opportunities available in the West of Ireland.

Today the Commission has released a second video (above) to further lure people out of the cities.

Alan Mulrooney writes:

The video features Nathalie Moyano who moved to Foxford, Co Mayo from Dublin in March this year and is now enjoying the fruits of working remotely with a more relaxed pace of life.

Born in France, Nathalie moved to Ireland in 2002 and spent years commuting from Wicklow to the city centre. She moved to Co Mayo on the first day of lockdown and found herself surrounded by woodlands, beautiful riverside walks and stunning gardens at a time when many people were confined to city apartments with no access to open spaces

In fairness.
