Out now.

Contemporary Irish Documentary Theatre.

The first anthology of Irish documentary drama. Featuring six writers interrogating and commenting on crucial events of Irish history and of the diaspora.

Ellie writes:

This was published yesterday. We’d planned to have a big Dublin bash to launch it, alas it was not to be. Still, we got our first review in, and it would make great quarantine reading!

Review: Contemporary Irish Documentary Theatre (British Theatre Guide)

A magnificent, dark tale by Alberto Vázquez in which Arnold – a neurotic bear is convinced a bizarre cast of characters is involved in a conspiracy to undermine his sanity.

Not suitable for kids. Or some grown-ups, probably.

Meanwhile…

Um.

Behold: galaxies M81 (previously) and M82 (previously) – 12 million light-years from us toward the northern constellation of the Great Bear. Seconds out. Fight! To wit:

On the left, with grand spiral arms and bright yellow core is spiral galaxy M81, some 100,000 light-years across. On the right marked by red gas and dust clouds, is irregular galaxy M82. The pair have been locked in gravitational combat for a billion years. Gravity from each galaxy has profoundly affected the other during a series of cosmic close encounters. Their last go-round lasted about 100 million years and likely raised density waves rippling around M81, resulting in the richness of M81‘s spiral arms. M82 was left with violent star forming regions and colliding gas clouds so energetic the galaxy glows in X-rays. In the next few billion years, their continuing gravitational encounters will result in a merger, and a single galaxy will remain.

Lugosi – The Owls

Hoot sweet.

Dublin rockers Lugosi take David Lynch as an inspiration for this single from their album Rise From The Grave.

JM Burr, Jimmy Rooney, Neal Wright and Alan Morton turn the heat up on Bohemian Grove and Masonic rituals in Angel Croitor’s video.

Nick says: Owl at the moon.
