A new, even higher definition composite photo of the (7000 light years distant) Eagle Nebula’s ‘Pillars of Creation’ taken by the (since massively upgraded) Hubble telescope, contrasted with a similar image taken by the array back in 1995.
Hubblesite sez of it:
The pillars are bathed in the blistering ultraviolet light from a grouping of young, massive stars located off the top of the image. Streamers of gas can be seen bleeding off pillars as the intense radiation heats and evaporates it into space. Denser regions of the pillars are shadowing material beneath them from the powerful radiation. Stars are being born deep inside the pillars, which are made of cold hydrogen gas laced with dust. The pillars are part of a small region of the Eagle Nebula, a vast star-forming region 6,500 light-years from Earth.
Oooh.
A response this evening from Liz Delaney’s The Blacker pub, home of the now cancelled Welfare Wednesday drinks promotion.

What you may need to know:
1. Jessica Biel is an uninsured waitress from a small town with a nail stuck in her head. She travels to Washington to lobby for help on behalf of patients with unusual issues where she gets involved with a bungling congressman.
2. The film has been a cluster-fupp. It was mostly shot in 2008 by David O. Russell before he went on his hit spree of The Fighter (2010), Silver Linings Playbook (2012) and American Hustle (2013) but this effort has had three name changes and fiilming shut down 14 times.
3. It originally was written as a biting political satire by Kristen Gore. She has a famous dad.
4. Biel was contract bound to complete filming. David O. Russell was not. He was replaced by a Stephen Greene who is not credited.
5. So why push through a semi-finished disaster of a film? Ask Jake Gyllenhaal or Tracy Morgan.
6. Broadsheet Prognosis: I don’t Biel-eve it.
