Eoin English and Daniel O’Connell, in The Irish Examiner, reports:

Concerns have been raised as testing for Covid-19 two of the State’s largest testing facilities has ground to a halt, despite official claims that daily sampling is being ramped up.

…HSE staff at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork have taken just a handful of swab samples from people who have been referred for testing in recent days. The facility operates for just a few hours a day.

Limited activity was observed at Croke Park yesterday by the Irish Examiner.

In fairness.

The Limerick Leader reports:

“…a local councillor is asking people who may have had the poster delivered in their letterbox to alert the gardai as it is “a crime scene”. “I have yet to find someone who has a physical copy of it. We’ve gone viral with an image,” said Fianna Fail councillor Cillian Murphy, a resident of Kilkee.

Self-help for self-isolators: surviving yourself in quarantine.

Keano, of FRO Films, writes:

Self-help books through the heady days of the 1980s and the 1990s coached us how to maximise our relationships with our partners, families and dogs.

Now in the new world of isolation, we need to adapt this self-empowerment to handle our relationship with ourself while in our new self confinement.

Are you driving yourself nuts distracting yourself while trying to work from home?

Are you bored of yourself ranting on with the same nonsense every day as you start to talk to yourself?

Here are some quarantine hacks to survive self-isolation with yourself.

Minister for Health Simon Harris

This morning.

George Lee, of RTÉ, reports:

Minister for Health Simon Harris said he expects to be advised tomorrow to keep the significant restrictions to slow the spread of the coronavirus in place for a period of weeks but that Ireland will have to move onto a “different terrain” after that.

“What’s highly likely tomorrow is that the National Public Health Emergency Team will recommend that we continue with the very strict restrictions … I expect that to be a period of weeks,” Mr Harris said.

Fine Gael TD and Minister of State for Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform Patrick Donovan

This morning.

Donal O’Regan reports in the Limerick Leader…

Minister Patrick O’Donovan said people flouting the HSE regulations need to “cop on”.

“Whether that’s hanging around street corners, breaking the 2km rule, behaving inappropriately, having parties or whatever – these people are now breaking the law. They should be bright before the courts and held accountable,” said Minister O’Donovan.

He called on the community to “do their part and report people”.

“I know that might sound like a difficult thing to do but it is not. You need to ring the guards and you need to report them. Even if they are your neighbours you need to report them because the behaviour of some could cost the lives of others,” he said.
