…is questioning how the erosion of personal privacy in the digital age shapes how we view and portray ourselves online. The masks deny the viewer the full story of who the sitter is, echoing the curated or false personas we view online daily. My masks are photographed against a sanitised white square. I know there is often chaos, mess and noise just beyond the margins of that photograph, but the messiness of life doesn’t make the edit for social media..

Single sheets of watercolour paper dextrously folded into facial profiles by Polly Verity. It’s all about the ‘curved folds’, sez she:
I tried to fold along the profile of a face, and I realized that I could tweak the paper on either side just very slightly and ease curves out to give volume and form. When I tried the same technique in watercolour paper, I suddenly had micro-control over the resulting curved forms and they became soft and sensual. So each face goes on to inform the next and they have become a sort of series.

Researchers from graphics Interface pioneer NVIDIA demonstrate their Style Based Generator Architecture for Generative Adversarial Networks.
In other words, artificial intelligence capable of generating human faces and other objects that don’t otherwise exist in real life.
