It occurred in “exceptional circumstances” in the case of a new born baby who died in hospital and where the other options for burial, in a hospital or religious plot, “were not selected.”The remains of the baby would then be placed in a coffin of another deceased person, an adult.

Further to Sinéad O’Connor’s appearance on last night’s Late Late Show, in which she mentioned that she had been shown footage of a woman being thrown to the ground by a guard during an Irish Water protest, she writes on her website:
“The un-named RTE employee who showed me footage yesterday of male Gardai throwing a woman into a concrete bollard during a water charges protest, and did so in order to request I ‘get on board’ with the subject, has been on the phone to me this afternoon begging I remove from my blog, the mention of his having shown me the footage as he is terrified he will lose his job because having shown me the footage (which has been in full public circulation for two weeks anyway!) prompted me to discuss non-violent revolution and the creation of a Second Republic of Ireland.”
“Needless to point out the utter hypocrisy of this person asking me to voice what he hasn’t the courage to voice himself. I requested he remove his cock and balls from the mouth of the state and have the same courage as I, to stand by one’s convictions.The very idea someone could be terrified they might be fired for showing me the footage says an awful lot about RTE. Senator David Norris raised the appointment of Fionnaula Sheehan, Chief Executive of drinkaware.ie and chairperson of MEAS to the board of RTÉ.
According to the latest issue of The Phoenix, the Oireachtas Communications committee met in secret in July to propose and endorse nominees to the RTÉ Board. A working group was set up to process expressions of interest for the RTÉ board and it too met in secret. The Phoenix reveals the Oireachtas members in the working group.
With The Phoenix in hand, the Senator called for Minister Alex White to reject her nomination.

It is not just a question of her views being ‘paraphrased’, as RTÉ claims: proper paraphrasing requires due attention to the context. Her words about being ready to strap on an explosive device and fight are not because she is a combatant in one “side” of a “war”, which is what RTÉ suggests with the sequence of images and words in its report, but because she is witness to the death of children, as a consequence of precisely the kind of explosion caused by Israeli forces, but shown in the report as if it could have been generated by either “side”.
…As she says herself in the translation furnished by RTÉ: “Four to five children die every single day, where are you people? …a four-storey building fell on their heads, it is horrific”. Then: “I am ready to wear the explosive jacket and joint (sic) our fighters…all our children are dying”.
There is a vast difference between a woman saying she will join the fight because “all our children are dying”, and a woman saying she is “ready to strap on an explosive device and fight” without any context or rationale for her words, amid the suggestion furnished by the RTÉ report that even ordinary women are combatants.…Thus the RTÉ report presents the situation in Gaza as a two-sided and even contest, but with the difference on the Palestinian side being that there is no distinction between a civilian and a combatant. The presentation of the Palestinian woman is therefore in keeping with the image of what pro-Israel advocate Alan Dershowitz once described as the “continuum of civilianality” to justify attacks that primarily injured civilian populations, and in keeping with Israeli propaganda more generally. RTÉ’s claim that it did not ‘misinterpret or misrepresent’ the views of this woman could only be justified if it were under orders from the Israeli military, and not subject to obligations as a public broadcaster in Ireland.
