car1car2Mitsubishi GTO: “Mitsubishi entered the Japanese sports car craze in 1990 with their GTO (aka 3000GT) to match country rivals Toyota (Supra), Nissan (Skyline) and Mazda (RX-7). It came with many advanced technology system including four-wheel drive and utilised a powerful V6 engine available with single and double overhead cams.”

car3car4Renault 16: “The Renault 16 was marketed as a large family car though the styling was not so clear-cut making it hard to find a definite categorisation. TL was the marque’s distinction for their previously known Renault 16 ‘Super’ and this example is probably pre-1974 due to the aluminium grill. These were replaced by plastic grills thereafter.”

car6car6Chevrolet Corvette: “An true American icon, the Corvette is a thing of beauty and pure muscle. This third generation model was introduced in 1968 and based mostly on the previous version. Production lasted until 1982 at which point the car design was more aerodynamically influenced. In 1981 a 5.7L V8 engine was the only one offered but I’d hardly be complaining despite a measily power output of 190hp.”

What you may need to know.

1. Sly Stallone has FIVE movies out in the next year or thereabouts, including Expendables 3 (2014) and a boxing movie where he fights Bobby De Niro. Seriously.

2. First up, however, we get his first prison flick since 1989’s justly forgotten Lock Up. Truth be told, we’re still holding out for that Tango & Cash (1989) sequel.

3. Arnold Schwarzenegger is going through his Morgan Freeman phase.

4. Is that Vincent D’Onofrio from Law & Order: Criminal Intent? Man, that TV catering takes its toll.

5. The bad guy? It’s Jim ‘Jesus’ Caviezel, from our new favorite guilty pleasure, Person Of Interest.

6. Plus: Straight-To-DVD superstar 50 Cent! Wait… Did Cannon Pictures make this?

7. We haven’t been this excited since Expendables 2 (2012). And it doesn’t even have Chuck Norris in it.

9030595690305958Tony Rochford, from Trim Co Meath with supporters outside the Dail yesterday afternoon.

Mr Rochford is on hunger strike to protest  the property tax. He is being charged €495 charged on his home – a figure he says is based on the €430,000 he paid for the property in 2008 and not on current valuation.

But it is the least of his worries.

As he explained on day 10 of the strike:
