From top: Howard Marks on the Late Late Show in 1997 when he was called ‘Mr Evil’ by Mary Harney; Meeting  Aodhan O’Riordan (right) with Hot Press journalist Olaf Tyaransen (centre) last November.

Backstage [at the Metropolis Festival at the RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4] I spot Drugs Minister Aodhán Ó Ríordáin and invite him to come over and say hello.

The last time Howard met an Irish minister was on The Late Late Show in 1997 (I was also present). Mary Harney wasn’t impressed, telling Gay Byrne that she considered him to be “Mr Evil.”

Ó Ríordáin is far more pleasant and open-minded, later tweeting a picture of us all together along with the comment that it was “Great chatting.” What a difference 18 years can make…

Stop doing that.

You should put up a select transcript from today’s Liveline [RTÉ Radio 1. The host went off on an angle about this letter (above) in Alive! [Catholic newspaper] and the editor Fr [Brian] Mc Kevitt was able for him.

However each point the priest was made was twisted by Joe Duffy or other callers and it descended into a farce. In particular Joe Duffy questioning Alive! policies and not being able to defend RTÉ licence payers being used to pay 3 producers for a 75 minute show! Fr McKevitt has previous complained to the BAI about Joe Duffy’s treatment….

Fight!

Dublin SPCA write:

Max is missing since 10am this morning. He got out of his house on the Clonkeen Road [Co Dublin] near Cornelscourt [Foxrock, Dublin 18]. Please if you live in the surrounding areas of Blackrock and Cabinteely keep an eye out for him. Owners sick with worry. If you see him take him to your nearest vet to be scanned as his chip is registered to owners.

Anyone?

He’s Ireland’s most divisive puppet.

But who’s pulling the strings?

Podcaster Gearoid Farrelly (above) writes:

I made a podcast episode [below] about the story of Bosco. It includes an interview with the woman behind the Bosco, puppeteer Paula Lambert, of the Lambert Puppet Theatre.
