[Gweedore GAA footballer Eamon] McGee agreed to become involved in the [‘Yes’ in May’s same sex marriage referendum] campaign when he considered what he might have to say to any children he may have in the future. “If I ever have a child and he or she turns out to be gay, they could say to me ‘you had a chance to make a difference in that vote’. I don’t know would I be more ashamed that I didn’t vote or the fact I voted against it. It comes down to equality and one less difference in society.”

A number of people walked out of a Mass in protest at comments made by a priest during a sermon on gay marriage. Father John Britto spoke out against gay marriage during a sermon in Annagry [Co Donegal] on Saturday night. And he told the congregation that Gaoth Dobhair (Gweedore) footballer Eamon McGee was wrong to back the Yes campaign in May’s referendum on same sex marriages. A number of people attending the Mass objected to the comments and left….
