Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, Minister Harris it is not a binary choice whether to continue to reopen or not, but to “ask the question is there a way to proceed with openings [while] retaining vaccine certs or face masks for a bit longer.”

The former minister for health said that a level of scrutiny of the options is required and the Government will consult with public health authorities ahead of any decision.

He also urged the 70,000 people who have had a first dose of Covid-19 vaccine to come forward for a second dose.

Mr Harris said that a more widespread booster [or third] vaccine programme could be beneficial…

Professor Philip Nolan, Chair of the NPHET Irish Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group

This morning.

Today with Claire Byrne on RTÉ Radio One.

NPHET’s Professor Philip Nolan said:

“Leaving your home with Covid-like or flu-like symptoms has to become socially unacceptable in the same way that drink driving has become socially unacceptable. It is dangerous now for people to mix if one of them has any kind of symptoms and we really need to err on the side of caution here and we’re better off staying at home, if you have anything that suggests you have this disease.

“You could infect that unvaccinated person, the one-in-ten, potentially, in your workplace even though you’re vaccinated, if you feel sick with this.”

Hic.

…Cian O’Callaghan TD , Social Democrats housing spokesman, said:

“What is the government going to do to control soaring costs? It’s only big idea, to solve the housing crisis, is to pour petrol on the fire of an already red-hot property market, through their proposed shared equity scheme.

“Schemes like the ‘help to buy’ scheme and the ‘shared equity’ scheme will not increase the supply of affordable homes – they will ratchet-up prices to ever increasing unsustainable levels.

“The government does not want to make housing more affordable. The best way to make housing more affordable is to build homes that are affordable instead of continuing to waste money in subsidies for developers that push up prices.”

Fight!

Must be a bad batch.
