Leo Varadkar, Nuala Carey and Kevin McLaughlin at the launch of ‘On The Dry’

For his health, at the start of the year,
Leo said he was giving up beer,
Which some gobshites might say,
Sounds a little bit gay,
But it’s not, and there’s no need to sneer.

Conor McGregor (top) and Catherine Noone TD

[Catherine Noone TD] said: “I have written to the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport seeking his views on allowing this vile so-called sport to be given a platform and an audience here and fully believe that this event should not be licensed…”
The senator’s comments come ahead of [Conor] McGregor and fellow Irish fighter Cathal Pendred preparing for their respective bouts in Boston early on Monday morning.
A McGregor win could see a potential title fight in Dublin, possibly in Croke Park in front of 80,000 fans.

The deputies in shirts of blue,
Don’t like to be told what to do,
So loosen the grip,
Of the hand on the whip,
And all of their dreams will come true.

All weekend a strong wind did blow,
And the temperature’s plummeting so,
We might see tonight,
The country turn white,
As we get the year’s first fall of snow.

While satire is under attack,
Thank God for the good folk at CRAIC,
Who’ll stand up and fight,
Against jokes about blight,
And give John Bull’s telly a smack.

The laudable Doctor Selim,
Has concocted a brilliant scheme,
If we obey him,
And keep our humour prim,
There’s no need for the violent extreme.
