Puppy farm bred, Pixie.

Can you help save her remaining eye?

ISPCA write:

“The little Pug had no resale value for the breeder as she was blind and disfigured in one eye. The Pug puppy’s condition was neglected, leaving an infection in the malformed eye. But the greatest concern for the veterinary surgeon, was that the attachments of Pixie’s eye were so weak there was a real risk the eye would fall out of the socket. The little rescue pup has had to have an operation to remove her eye. Any gift you can donate to help with Pixie-Pug’s operation and rehabilitation would be truely appreciated…”

From the Houston Police Department:

“Gavin Glynn is a brave 4-year-old boy from Ireland who recently received a special visit from Houston Police officers. A fundraiser was held in Ireland so Gavin, who has a rare form of cancer, and his family could come to Houston’s MD Anderson Cancer Center and receive treatment. The Garda reached out to HPD since Gavin is fascinated with anything police relate. Gavin was treated to a visit from Mounted Patrol horses Smash and Cushing and several HPD officers. Gavin was also made an honorary police officer. HPD plans to visit with Gavin and his family periodically while he is here in Houston for his treatment….”

Update:

From Dublin City Council:

Reasons:

1. The scale, magnitude and number of the concerts with an expected attendance of in excess of 80,000 people per night over five consecutive nights, three of them being week nights is unprecedented for Croke Park Stadium.

2. Three consecutive concerts have already taken place in Croke Park from the 23rd to 25th of May 2014. Given that Croke Park is situated in a heavily populated residential area, five shows in a row following on from the three concerts already held there this year is considered an over intensification of use of the stadium for the holding of special events/concerts. It would be in effect permitting an increase of 100% in terms of the maximum number of concerts that had previously been held in Croke Park in any given year since the redevelopment of the stadium.

3. The cumulative effect on residents and on some businesses in the Croke Park and surrounding neighbourhoods, of licencing five shows in a row, three of them on weekdays, would lead to an unacceptable level of disruption to their lives/livelihoods over an unprecedented and prolonged period caused by, concert related noise, access restrictions, traffic disruption, illegal parking and potential antisocial behaviour. The City Council would also be concerned with the precedent that would be created if five consecutive concerts in a row of this scale were licenced.

“A response  I have had framed from a letting agent to my email after phoning him to enquire about  a property. He told me it’s not actually spacious -“it’s quite tight” and “absolutely no pets”. The advert boasts spacious and doesn’t mention pets! He also used the word “crap” in relation to all of the other properties on the market and that he only lets “quality” properties!! Indeed!”

How to remove a water meter for “amusement purposes”.

Should you ever want to.

Small print: If you don’t have a water meter, you’ll still be charged: (“your usage will be assessed using a proxy for metered usage, primarily based on occupancy”) and those charges will be higher than the metered charges. Harrumph, etc.
