You dancin’?

He’s askin’

‘sheet commenter Ahjayziz awrites:

[Further to news of an Irish version ‘Dancing With The Stars’ coming soon] Did RTÉ buy the Dancing With The Stars’ format from ABC in the States?

Because ABC bought the ‘Strictly Come Dancing‘ format from the BBC and renamed it ‘Dancing With The Stars’. Did RTÉ really just buy ‘Strictly Come Dancing’?

So they’re replacing ‘The Voice’, a BBC format, with Strictly, a BBC format, but using the American name we’re less familiar with to downplay the fact they’re a bargain basement, awfully executed BBC rip-off?

Anyone?

Yesterday it was revealed that climate records have been shattered worldwide. I think that an important subject related to this is how much Ireland will be fined if it does not reducec arbon emissions to acceptable levels.

Brendan Howlin has previously stated that said fines could run into 100s of millions of euro.

But this article suggests the fine could be as much as 2 billion. And this is not taking into account the economic costs of 1-2 billion for agri sector by mid century due to climate change itself.

So how much could Ireland be fined?

“Greyhound seemed to make it really difficult on me to remain on the Current Plan (fixed monthy charge). In past you didn’t have to do anything to remain on the plan you were on but they changed it up on us this year. Even after I did what was required, they’ve tried to switch me to Pay By Weight anyhow!

They required that we have double the usual pre-pay monthly amount in the account. I did that. I also sent an email and filled out the online form requesting to stay on our current plan – and yet I logon this morning to see they’ve charged me as a Pay By Weight customer. Anyone else seeing this?”

Can any of your readers recommend a good place in Dublin to view the match on Sunday [France Vs ireland, 2pm kick off]. I was among the crowd in your photo (above)  from the Sweden match [in Dame Lane, Dublin 2] . I’m looking for somewhere less busy and with a French twist (I will be with two visiting frogs). Anyone?

Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald during Leaders’ Questions earlier today

Towards the end of Leaders’ Questions earlier today.

Labour TD Brendan Howlin asked Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald – who was fielding questions on behalf of Taoiseach Enda Kenny – if it would be possible for Dublin City Council or the Government to erect a big screen in the capital for Sunday’s Ireland V France match.

Brendan Howlin: “I join with other parties on my behalf and that of the Labour Party in congratulating the Irish team on the magnificent result gained by them last night. I specifically congratulate the manager and fans. Every other major city involved in this occasion has a fan zone with a big screen. We have done something similar for all-Ireland finals and even for the equality referendum result. Is there any prospect that either the Government or Dublin City Council could by Sunday provide a facility for fans to enjoy the magnificent atmosphere if they cannot get to France?

An Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghaíl: “That is one for the Tánaiste.”

Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald: “The Government could certainly approach the relevant bodies. We handled the public screening of the results of the marriage equality referendum very well at Dublin Castle last year. I am sure that could be replicated.”

This fella arrived at the office earlier this week and then came back again yesterday.
He’s sitting up there on the top layer of the office glaring at me. Well, gazing maybe.
Ironically sitting right beside the *Paddy Pigeon* illustration file.

I get very twitchy when I’m working while being watched so I kind of need to find out what I should be doing. He’s ringed but I don’t want to freak him out either or I’ll have Pigeon poo all over my artwork. Any suggestions.
