An ‘e-velocipede’ concept based on the Karl Drais 1865 Dandy Horse by German design studio Ding3000 (in collaboration with chemicals giant BASF, which was founded the same year).
The brakes axles and motor are metal. The rest of the ‘pede is made from 24 lightweight carbon fibre polymers.

Cyclist Richie Trimble recently constructed the tallest bicycle in LA and participated in the CicLAvia 2013 event, where the city’s roads are temporarily cordoned off for cyclists.
With the assistance of a police escort and friends working to clear the way ahead, he managed 20 miles without falling off, stopping only once.

Behold BMW’s new e-bike: the Cruise (top speed 25km/h, weight 24kg, range 85km).
The bike has a 250W electric motor powered by a lithium ion battery under the bottom bracket. There’s also an onboard computer and a choice of cycling ‘modes’ including ‘eco’, ‘tour’, ‘sport’ and (ahem) ‘speed/turbo’.
No word on price or release date as yet, but the first 1000 units will be sold only in Germany.
The bike’s non-electric 2009 predecessor is currently on special offer at €700.
