City of Meriens – a conceptual design for a floating oceanographic university conceived by Jacques Rougerie Architecture.
900m long, 500m wide and based on the anatomy of a Manta Ray, the floating ‘city’ will have hydroponic greehouses, bays for marine and submersible craft, accomodation for up to 7000 people, lecture halls, classrooms, laboratories, sports zones, living space and ‘cultural relaxation areas’.
Extraordinary images of marine worms by master diver and photographer Alexander Semenov – most taken at the Lizard Island Research Station near the Great Barrier Reef in Austrialia during a conference on polychaetes.
