The year 2010 recorded in a composite image of 3,888 photographs taken by Erik Solheim from the window of his apartment in Oslo.
Solheim set up his Canon 400D to record one image every 30 minutes: 16,000 photographs whittled down to 3,888 from each of which he extracted a one-pixel wide line, then composited the lot (from January on the left to December on the right) using a computer script.

The source imagery was later turned into a rolling gif by ReditorITwitchToo.

London-based illustrator and animator Andrew Khosravani sez of his rather adorable short:
The denizens of Crowded amble through their ever-expanding habitat seemingly oblivious to their mutating landscape – while the voyeur sits back and inhales the swarming scenery. The convivial tone veils the dystopian message of the narrative. Cranes, trains and automobiles instil a sense of constant industry – as the populous swells upwards, outwards, downwards and inwards – contorting and adapting – forcing the inhabitants to recast themselves.
A few magnets, a battery and some copper wire. It’s no Hornby Flying Scotsman, but it’s still pretty impressive.
