Elon Musk’s SpaceX rocket launch was called off last night because of the “strength of electric fields in the atmosphere,” according to NASA
The big moment was drawing near
For Elon’s long hard shiny spear
But some coward cried “Stop!”
And the launch was a flop
You can try again later my dear
I take the project to new homes every night. 🌙 Big homes, small homes, friends, strangers. The response that I get from each window is so loving, welcoming and warm that it gives me a little boost and encourages me to shoot more the next night.🤗… pic.twitter.com/tObJZREf6b
Last week, with a riffing €25 Golden Discs voucher on offer, I asked you to name your favourite guitar solo.
You answered in your tens.
But there could be only one winner.
Third Place:
Paranoid Android by Radiohead
Rosette of Sirius writes:
I’m gonna go with Paranoid Android by Radiohead. A great guitar solo can only really work in the context of the entire composition of the song. There have been many amazing solos but sometimes they can feel out of place. Jonny Greenwood’s efforts truly capture the mania that influenced some of Thom Yorke’s lyrics in the track. I also completely lost my poo rocking to it when they played the Point a few years back. What a gig!
Runner up:
Marquee Moon by Television
Dylad writes:
Tom Verlaine’s solo at 5 minutes. Taught me a few things about phrasing, melody and a good clean tone. Also like Richard Lloyd’s solo after it!
Winner:
Still In Love With You by Thin Lizzy
Specific Gravity writes:
In fact, two great solos in the one, epic, timeless song
