This afternoon.

Cork designer and minimalist fan Ray Hurley (above) launches a print collection (available at link below) inspired by Irish cinema and the love of his life. To wit:

Ray met Lisa in Galway City in August 2011. He had just returned to Ireland from Australia after his mother passed away from ovarian cancer.

Long story short, Ray met the love of his life that weekend.

He used his design background to create something for Lisa that would both reflect his passion and inspire his new collection – Irish cinema.

Ray used his keen detective skills to find out Lisa’s favourite movies – leaning heavily on Lisa’s Facebook movie likes! He compiled his list and above is a sample the gallery he came up with.

Did it ‘reel’ her in?

In fairness.

No she doesn’t.

She’s just Humouring you.

But this is what it might be like if she did.

NOWNESS writes:

Inspired by ancient Greek philosopher Galen, video installation artist #MarcoBrambilla explores the human condition in his latest film, The Four Temperaments. Starring Academy-Award winner #CateBlanchett, Brambilla uses colour to evoke the Four Humours. In this beguiling quadriptych, the artist tests whether it is possible to create drama using two lines of dialogue spoken by the same actor. This project is part of #UnrealCity—the biggest augmented reality exhibition to come to London.

This afternoon.

The Rose of Tralee Festival has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to Covid-19.

Via RTÉ:

In a statement, Anthony O’Gara, Rose of Tralee International Festival CEO, confirmed the news on Monday.

He said that since last year’s postponement, they have been working on how to safely deliver the 2021 Rose of Tralee International Festival.

However, the timeframe envisaged to “steer our communities out of this pandemic” means that they will not be able to have a festival again this year.

Hook – Best Days

Those were the days?

Hook are a Dublin-based New Wave ensemble featuring Eoin O’Donnell (vocals, guitar), Morgan O’Brien (drums) and Danny Spelman (bass, vocals). Their new single was self-recorded in the band’s home studio.

Eoin writes:

“The song is an autobiographical account of being a young person or in college. For some, it’s a very lonely and isolating time. Everyone is telling you that these are the best days and years of your life, but more often than not it doesn’t feel that way. There’s so many expectations to be social and interesting, but most people in fact have trouble making friends or feeling accepted.”

Nick says: Nobody told me there’d be days like these.
