Slovakian artist Tomas Moravec has adapted the standard 1200mm x 800mm Europallet to run on the 1000mm wide narrow gauge tram tracks of Bratislava (also used in Antwerp, Basel, Belgrade, Bern, Frankfurt, Geneva, Ghent, Helsinki, Zürich and elesewhere)

Sadly fortunately, it wouldn’t work here. The Luas runs on standard 1435mm gauge tracks.

The Green machine is rolling.

Ireland’s preparations for the World Lacrosse Championships continued with a FULL exhibition game against Austria in Denver, Colorado.

Ireland won with a positively Germanic 14-4 scoreline.

Tom writes:

“The Irish attack line to work together to create plenty of chances. Kris Prior, Brian Gillis and Tom Riley all notched goals from that position, while Cillian Murphy also made a notable contribution to Ireland’s dominant offense…”

The opening ceremony of the tournament will take place on Thursday evening, followed by Ireland’s opening game of the tournament on Friday against Uganda.

More to folly.

Margaretta D’Arcy received a two-week prison sentence on June 24 at Ennis District Court. Judge Patrick Durcan offered to suspend it on the condition she signed a bond stating she would not enter restricted areas of Shannon Airport.

As she has refused to sign this bond, she was sent back to Limerick Prison this morning for two weeks, after she presented herself at Mill Street Garda Station in Galway.

Ms D’Arcy, who is 80 and suffers from cancer, is planning to refuse food during her time in jail.

Ms D’Arcy served nine and a half weeks of a three-month sentence earlier this year after refusing to sign a bond agreeing not to enter the unauthorised zones at Shannon Airport on foot of being arrested at the airport in October 2012.
