From top: Garda Sean Lucey and RTÉ cameraman Colm Hand; a scuffle during the Pegida rally in central Dublin in 2016

This afternoon.

Via RTE:

A garda who struck an RTÉ cameraman with a baton during a rally in Dublin three years ago has been found guilty of assault.

Garda Sean Lucey, a member of the Public Order Unit, had pleaded not guilty to assault causing harm to cameraman Colm Hand.

Lucey, 42, was found not guilty of damaging a camera at Cathedral Street on 6 February 2016.

The incident occurred as Mr Hand and a colleague were working at a demonstration and counter rally in Dublin by the far-right group Pegida and anti-racism groups….

I came across this, via a friend who knows the victim: I think it’s awful that this person needs to pay for treatment themselves; but they do, so we should help if we can.

An unprovoked assault last night.

Did you see it?

Nessy writes:

know you don’t normally do this but perhaps your readers can help..Myself, my girlfriend, two other girls and a guy were out in [Dublin] town last night. We had dinner on Camden Street [Dublin] then went for one in the Globe [George’s Street, Dublin]. After leaving the Globe we were confronted by four guys who after some unwanted conversation, proceeded to follow us in the direction of Dame Street. They went out of their way to set upon our only male friend.

After walking away from the confrontation a second time they followed us again to Dame Street where we (3 girls and one guy) were physically assaulted. The area was packed with people leaving pubs as it was closing time. We’re looking for witnesses to help as a statement was made with the Gardai. The main assault on us was outside Rick’s [burgers]/ the Mercantile/Iskanders [kebab]. In the age of selfie sticks I’m sure someone has some footage. Thank you.

korea

It would appear so. Two at least.

You might even know them.

From Jezebel:

A Facebook video  of two Western men aggressively harassing a young Korean woman has gone viral in South Korea, sparking both outrage against the notoriously dickish expat community … The woman’s face is blurred in the shortened video above (you can watch the full video below, but know that it’s incredibly, horribly awful).

She’s drunk, crying, and clearly very afraid. The Western men — it’s unclear where they’re from — move her around by pulling her hair and grabbing her chin. “We gotta get a picture of this bitch,” they say, describing her body as if she doesn’t exist.”We’ve gotta get the boobs in there.”

Update:

From the Korean Herald:

An online video showing a Korean woman apparently being harassed by a group of Western men in a nightclub was staged, two men who say they acted in the video have claimed.

…One of the alleged actors, both of whom spoke on condition of anonymity, provided a screenshot from a Facebook conversation showing the alleged director admitting that the video was staged. The apparent director of the video studied film at a university in Seoul, according to his Facebook account and a university website from 2004.
…In the conversation, the apparent director said that he uploaded the video three years ago, but it had since been taken down and he was unsure of how it resurfaced.
“I can see the video is reedited and cut many scenes. I’m in (sic) page with you in announcing that the video was fake,” he wrote.
He also suggested doing an interview with the woman in the video to clear any misunderstanding. He added, however, that they should “wait a while” first before doing anything.
