atA video of the site where Apple is building its ‘spaceship’ campus in Cupertino, California, set to open in 2016
Trevor Mogg, in Digital Trends, writes:
The site, which spreads across 176 acres, will incorporate office space across four floors, a research and development facility, fitness centers, dining facilities, a 1,000-seat underground auditorium, and jogging paths snaking through the grounds, with shade offered by around 7,000 trees. It’ll also feature a solar-paneled roof.
The futuristic-looking campus [artist’s representation below], which is set to become the main workspace for around 14,000 Apple employees, is the work of renowned UK architect Norman Foster, though the project was the long-time ambition of Steve Jobs, who championed the plan up until his death in 2011.
