I am with The Marketing Shop, one of more than 1000 SMEs (small and medium enterprises) that have become involved with  #SMEcommunity – the Twitter community of SMEs from across the island of Ireland.

This Friday we’re having a Tweet-Up and we’ve just confirmed a wonderful special guest – George Mordaunt, author of “Shepherd’s Pie”.

The venue has been provided free of charge courtesy of The County Arms Hotel, Birr, Co. Offaly – a location that businesses from across the island can reach. We would really be grateful if you could include a mention on Broadsheet as we’ve got a great cross-section of Irish SMEs attending and to date our local Tweet-Ups have proven enormously successful.

I’m not sure if you can help me but it’s worth a try. I was robbed on Friday night on George’s Street [Dublin] and my bag was stolen and my life was basically inside it. House keys, wallet, make-up etc. The bag was a navy oversized Mulberry buckle bag (above). It was a gift and it really means a lot to me. Everything in it was sentimental. If anyone hears of a bag being sold on the cheap or very quickly I would really really appreciate any help. Thanks so much.

The Stopsopaireland.com site had attracted almost 16,000 signatures by 6.00pm today, having gone live at about 9.30pm last night.

Over 2,000 signatures were added in one hour this afternoon, according to the site’s administrators. They had expected about 5,000 signatures by lunchtime, and no more than 10,000 in total.

He [Sean Sherlock] said he had consulted with both sides of the debate and had received over 50 submissions following a consulation process. A wording for the new instrument had gone to Cabinet.

“It will go to Cabinet and the Government will decide as to when it will be rolled out and how it will be rolled out,” Mr Sherlock said.

He said the Government was trying to ensure that the rights of internet users was balanced by the rights of the copyright holders.

Independent TD Stephen Donnelly said that some senior public sector workers were receiving double the pay of their European counterparts.
In response, Minister Howlin accepted that many were being paid too much.
However, he said there was a process in place for public sector reform and one cannot take the ground from people overnight.
In relation to tackling high wages in the public sector, Sinn Féin’s Mary Lou McDonald said she had lost confidence in the minister’s commitment to tackle the issue, seeing, she said, that he breached his own ceiling cap in relation to his own special advisor’s pay.
