“Athletics Ireland and the Irish Sports Council jointly announce that the Irish Sport Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel determined that athlete Tomas Rauktys has committed an anti-doping rule violation. Tomas Rauktys, a discus and shot put thrower [of Clonliffe Harriers, above] has been sanctioned by a period of ineligibility of 2 years commencing on the 15th August 2013 – the date on which he was provisionally suspended by Athletics Ireland.”

“In a doping control test immediately following his win in the National Championships, he provided a sample which tested positive for the presence of a prohibited substance, Stanozolol. Mr Rauktys’ results from the 27th July to the time of his provisional suspension on the 15th August are also disqualified. The hearing was held on under Article 8 (Disciplinary Process) of the Irish Anti-Doping Rules and this announcement is made pursuant to Article 15 (Public Disclosure) of the Rules.”

After Clare Daly and other United Left Alliance TDs named people who had their penalty points quashed in the Dáil last December, a series of public meetings were held in the Red Cow Moran Hotel.

Members of the public who had concerns about garda practices were invited to attend the meetings and tell of their concerns.

Following on from the response to these meetings, Ms Daly, Joan Collins, Mick Wallace and Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan founded a group called Justice For All.

Justice4All will hold a protest will take place outside Tullamore Garda Station from 12 noon to 3pm today.

More here.

UPDATE:

Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan spoke to Midlands 103FM earlier, to explain why the protest is taking place in Tullamore.

He said:

“Our offices have been contacted by more people from this general area than any other area so we thought that it would be an appropriate garda station to hold the protest outside. And this isn’t about having a go at guards. This is about trying to bring about accountability so that the majority of good, decent, hard-working gardaí can actually get on with their job.”

In collaboration with Pet Stylist Ruben Santana, I have photographed dogs as they are being washed before grooming. The way the water plays with their hair, and their facial expressions as the water is poured on them creates striking portraits that resemble famous humans or important characters. The dogs become sculptures.

You’ll recall the rather excellent extreme knife throwing video from Swedish stunt table-tennis crew Tumba Ping Pong Show.

Well, here’s spoilsport Captain Disillusion to show you how it was done.
