Shelbourne FC of the League of Ireland.

Fancy footwork.

Utilitarian poster design

Niall Farrell writes:

“The 1895 Trust, Shelbourne FC’s supporters’ trust, are holding an end-of-season social event this Friday at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome along to celebrate the club, or just to celebrate the fantastic performers we’ll have on the night. Paul Curran (spoken word), Harbourmaster, Gavin White (from White Collar Boy) and Lewis Kenny (spoken word) are all performing in the Tolka Bar at Tolka Park [Richmond Rd, Drumcondra, Dublin] Tickets are €10 and can be bought on the door, with proceeds being evenly split between funding fixed costs related to the bar and The 1895 Trust….”

Senator Tom Sheahan (Fine Gael) voiced his fears over Ireland’s immigration policy in the Seanad this morning and said:

“…where we could have serious problems. What I hope to happen in this improvement in our financial circumstances is that our people will come home from Australia, America and Canada etc and they will benefit. What I’m fearful of is, there’s nothing there presently to stop 40 or 50,000 of our European neighbours to come into the country and benefiting from this upward curve in our financial status. The European law is what needs to be tackled here….I believe we need control, we even need to be selfish, we even need to be selfish…I also believe that we don’t have the capacity in our education system, in our health system or we don’t have the housing…Maybe my thought structure or maybe my approach is very simplistic but I do believe that self-preservation is needed here.”

We’ll fight them on the beaches.

Bloody foreigners coming over here and dying in our maternity hospitals.

A Sinn Féin promo for the party’s  alternative budget launched by Gerry Adams and Pearse Doherty (top) at the Davenport Hotel, Dublin earlier.

Nice sad music, in fairness.

Meanwhile…

Seems legit.

Enda?

Mr Kenny launched a scathing attack on Sinn Fein’s economic plans after receiving the party’s pre-budget submission. He said the party’s tax proposals would “close down the country” and result in a 73pc cumulative tax rate.
The Taoiseach said the party’s proposals to abolish water charges leaves a €500m black hole in Sinn Fein’s budget strategy.

Enda Kenny: ‘Sinn Fein budget means workers paying tax rates of over 70pc

The film is a portrait of Irish street artist Eoin. Showcasing the different worlds that he finds himself working in, the film was shot in an abandoned mansion on the west coast of Ireland and Jamie Oliver’s Italian in Canary Wharf, London.

Sibling of Daedalus writes:

“It’s the scale model used by the Irish-American architect Augustus Saint-Gaudens (above) when designing the Parnell Monument, erected on this day in 1911. Sadly, the model itself was subsequently destroyed, and only this photo (top) remains.
Saint-Gaudens, born in Dublin in 1848, was the most famous American sculptor of his generation. He designed the statue of Parnell which stands at the base of the moment. The obelisk and base were the work of Henry Bacon (who also designed the Lincoln memorial) and GP Sheridan.

“With An Fianna Eireann training in the Rotunda Gardens, Maud Gonne’s radical women’s organisation, ‘Daughters of Ireland’ up the way in North Great George’s Street, the monument was right at the heart of radical Dublin of 1911. No wonder that, according to RF Foster in his new book [Vivid Faces] , the network of small shops and restaurants around O’Connell Street and Parnell Square soon became thronged with young coffee sipping would-be revolutionaries…And on that subject congrats to Andy, Slightly Bemused and Ciaran Adamson for guessing correctly [see comments].”

FIGHT!
