A new mural by Berlin-based French street artist MTO, for ‘Hit The North’ Culture Night in Belfast.
The mural at Talbot Street in the yard of the Northern Ireland War Memorial depicts the Greek sophist philosopher Protagoras, a proponent of agnosticism, who wrote:
Concerning the gods, I have no means of knowing whether they exist or not or of what sort they may be, because of the obscurity of the subject, and the brevity of human life.
It’s a good thing Dr Paisley’s not around to hear that kind of talk so it is.

What you may need to know:
1. Director Tim Burton’s biopic of the artist Margaret Keane (played by Amy Adams). Keane’s paintings of doe-eyed children were hugely popular but her husband, Walter (Christoph Waltz) took sole credit for her work.
2. What’s this? No Johnny Depp? No Helena Bonham Carter? That should keep the Burton naysayers quiet for a while.
3. With a 30-year career based on expressionistic weirdness, how does Burton keep his audience on their toes? He goes full-on normal, that’s how.
4. Burton hasn’t used a non-fictive biographical source since Ed Wood (1994). That was a good one.
5. He seems to have lost his mojo ever since Planet of the Apes (2001). Hopefully Big Eyes will mark a return to form.
6. Broadsheet Prognosis: Weirdly normal.

The poster and trailer for A Day Like Today by Ger Walsh, who was behind the shorts Is This It? and Bound.
He writes:
“Last year I made my first feature film and, on Friday, we were accepted into IndieCork [Film festival] to premier the film. The film was made for just €450 in 10 days all around Dublin city.
The film centres around a chance meeting between two people, Alice [Andie McCaffrey Byrne] and Joe [Paul Butler Lennox]. Alice is a wife stuck in a toxic relationship and Joe is a seemingly homeless person with a troubled past. They see this chance meeting as an opportunity to just forget about their lives for a day and just live…”
