They can do that now.

Siobhan Kearney writes:

“My bike was stolen last night from outside my house in Ranelagh, along with two other bikes. I had it locked to the railings but they cut through the railing to get it off. It was taken between 1am and 6am from Ranelagh Road near the Luas bridge. It’s a small bike with some rusting on the handle bars and, unless it’s been cut off, there should be an orange kryptonite lock still on it. I’ve replaced the toe clip pedals with basic platform pedals.  If anyone spots it for sale anywhere – like on DoneDeal or similar websites – please let me know.”

Anyone?

Moyross Estate in Limerick

A Paris-based international human rights body [International Federation for Human Rights] lodged claims on behalf of 130,000 residents in estates in inner city Dublin and Limerick over sewage problems, persistent leaks, harmful damp and mould after charities at home did not take up the cause

The complaint also focuses on crime and anti-social behaviour and accuses the State of a strategy of deliberate neglect to further run down already dilapidated flat complexes which sit on prime development land.

The report also targeted the €3bn Limerick Regeneration scheme for failing to complete promised work in estates such as Moyross, Southill, St Mary’s Park, and Ballinacurra Weston. It states only €116m has been spent.

The FIDH complaint accuses local authorities of a conflict of interest as councils act as landlords and also enforce regulations.

The European Space Agency writes:

“After a decade-long journey chasing its target, ESA’s Rosetta has today become the first spacecraft to rendezvous with a comet, opening a new chapter in Solar System exploration.”

“Comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko and Rosetta now lie 405 million kilometres from Earth, about half way between the orbits of Jupiter and Mars, rushing towards the inner Solar System at nearly 55 000 kilometres per hour.”

“The comet is in an elliptical 6.5-year orbit that takes it from beyond Jupiter at its furthest point, to between the orbits of Mars and Earth at its closest to the Sun. Rosetta will accompany it for over a year as they swing around the Sun and back out towards Jupiter again.”
