You may recall commentator Ger winning an AUTHENTIC Viking helmet for creating seven front page Battle of Clontarf headlines.
Ger writes:
“I write children’s books and often visit schools and libraries to talk about them. I was invited this week to talk to the boys of 6th class in St Paul’s in North Brunswick Street (‘The Brunner’ of Paddy Crosbie fame) [Dublin] about my new ghost/rugby/historical/mystery novel, Rugby Warrior.
As their school is in the heart of the old Viking settlement of Oxmanstown, I thought the helmet would have a good home there, and the lads really appreciated it and everyone got a chance to wear it. So, thanks to Broadsheet and Dublin City Council, some modern Vikings will be roaming the Smithfield area with some suitable headgear.”
Mmmf.

” St Patrick’s hall has either been to Specsavers or Brendan McCahey, winner of The Voice of Ireland, is coming to the May festival on Sunday night…”

Francis Doherty, of the Peter McVerry Trust, writes:
“We have produced a new infographic that looks at our cold weather initiative during winter 13/14. Weather figures are for Dublin city because it is the location for majority of rough sleepers in Ireland.”

What you may need to know
1. It’s a rom-com spoof, starring Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler.
2. We do love Rudd, a man who’s walked any from any amount of duds still
smelling of Sex Panther.
3. We also love Poehler. She’s in Parks And Recreation, and brought the
SUBLIME Broad City to TV.
4. It’s directed by the guy who did Hot Wet American Summer (2001) and Role Models (2008).
5. And it’s got Ken Marino in it. We’ll watch anything with Marino.

At people who frolic and prance,
Till Michael and Jean,
Arrived on the scene,
And made the world love Riverdance.
