An image sourced from the Brooks Museum of Art in Memphis, Tennessee, transposed to the wall of a derelict building by Julien de Casabianca’s Outings Project, whereby the artist brings art not normally seen on the streets, to the streets.

In this case, 19th century French academic painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s 1886 work “Au pied de la falaise”.

Melon-twisting installations by artist Chris Engman composed of large scale digital photographs secured to the walls floors and ceilings of domestic interiors.

As viewers ’step inside’ the image, the anamorphic effect is dispelled and the scene becomes fragmented and warped.

Which is disappointing, yet salutory and reflective of idealised perception in general.

Currently on show at the Alice F. And Harris K. Weston Art Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio, if you’re passing.

The incredible anamorphic assemblages of Thomas Deininger.

Shallow consumerism, reality and illusion, the environmental cost of the modern world and so forth.

A brief taste of an experimental open-world environment called ‘Emergence’, currently under construction by UK design studio Universal Everything.

In this bizarre, mesmeric and unnerving space, a glowing yellow character controlled by the user is surrounded by swarms of anonymous people who react to the character’s movement. To wit:

…the primal feeling of maintaining your individual identity whilst being part of a crowd. As you immerse yourself in a crowd of thousands, shafts of light beckon you closer. As you touch the light, the environment – its atmosphere, its gravity and the choreography of the crowd – transform in powerful ways, continually challenging your perception.
