Copper-topped chef Guy Sinnott, the ‘King of comfort food’ and Maeve O’Malley, the ‘Queen of toasties’, at the launch of ‘The Fiery Redhead’, a cheesy collaboration between the pair and Dublin toastie cafe, Meltdown.

The Fiery Redhead features spicy Nduja, mature white cheddar cheese, caramelised onion garnished with chopped chives, stacked between two slices of toasted fresh sourdough bread. Available exclusively at Meltdown throughout April and May.

Further to international outrage over civilian deaths in Ukraine, including apparent evidence of bound bodies shot at close range and a mass grave found in areas retaken from Russian troops…

…Taras Shapravskyi, deputy mayor of Bucha, a town around 40km northwest of Kyiv city, said ’50 of around 300 people were found dead’ were the victims of ‘extra-judicial killings carried out by Russian troops’.

The Kremlin has categorically rejected accusations that Russian forces were responsible for killing civilians in Bucha, suggesting images of corpses lining the streets were “fakes”.

Journalists from international media over the weekend found corpses in civilian clothes – some with their hands bound – in Bucha after Ukrainian forces retook the town on the outskirts of

Ukrainian authorities said on Sunday they were investigating possible war crimes, while Western leaders erupted in outrage over the deaths.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the facts and chronology of the events in Bucha did not support Ukraine’s version of events.

He said Russian “experts at the Ministry of Defence have identified signs of video fakes and various fakes”, without elaborating.

“We would demand that many international leaders do not rush to sweeping accusations and at least listen to our arguments,” he added.

Dublin Airport suspended their key ‘expected wait time’ feature amid the ongoing security chaos.

Delays at the airport continued this weekend as many unhappy passengers took to Twitter to document their long wait times and missed flights.

Some are experiencing up to four-hour queues as staffing issues put pressure on operations which recently led to a cessation of the fast track option.

For the time being it is not possible to book fast-track security and advice to customers is still to allow extra time for these ongoing delays.

A respite centre called ‘The Bird’s Nest’ is among the projects being considered after over €2 million was raised when thousands of people took park in a charity climb over the weekend to support former RTÉ broadcaster Charlie Bird.

Mr Bird’s wife, Claire Mould, said the event was the “the most beautiful, emotional, and inspiring day I’ve ever experienced”.

Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, she said: “I’ve never experienced anything like this, the people that helped us and supported us, it was just absolutely wonderful. The money we have raised has been above and beyond expectations, I think we’ve raised over €2 million and the target had been €1 million.”

Mr Bird also passed on his condolences to the family and friends of Cora O’Grady who became ill and later died during a climb in Co Tipperary.

Her family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers this morning, he said.

Green Party leader Eamon Ryan said on Sunday he would bring a package of measures to Government next week to help with the cost of living.

Sources indicated this would include a public awareness campaign advising steps such as cutting out one car journey a week in favour of walking or taking public transport, taking shorter showers, not filling a kettle to the top if not needed and turning down the thermostat by a degree.

The package will also include more targeted measures, which sources described as “regulator-led”, designed to help those with energy debts obtain manageable repayment schedules and to ensure vulnerable people were on the cheapest tariff possible.
