This afternoon.

The reopening of all shops along with hairdressers and gyms is now ‘most likely to happen’ next Tuesday, December 1.

Via RTÉ:

The final decision will be taken by Cabinet later but the widespread expectation in Government circles is that it will happen on Tuesday rather than Wednesday 2 December.

The Cabinet is also set to approve a plan that will allow for the reopening of restaurants and gastro pubs, most likely on Monday 7 December.

But it is expected that household gatherings will not be permitted until 18 December.

Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe

This Morning/afternoon.

Via RTE:

“Intense discussions” on how the country will exit Level 5 restrictions are “necessary” and are under way, the Finance Minister has said, describing it as a “decision of magnitude”.

Paschal Donohoe said the Government is hearing assessments from NPHET, adding it is important to acknowledge that the country is making progress on beating the virus.

“If you are looking at all indicators where we were a few weeks ago we are in a better place but not as good a place as we would like to be,” Mr Donohoe stated.

Intense.

The Irish PostASelfie app from a small business based in Kilkee in Co Clare is an ideal way to stay connected without leaving home.  It is now FREE to send a PostASelfie postcard to Nursing homes in just a few clicks.

PostASelfie want to help keep people connected and bring a smile to people in Nursing Homes by offering their service FREE until the end of the Level 5 Restrictions.

The postcards are covered with a wipeable laminate so they can be easily wiped down on arrival for extra safety.

Simply write the word FREEPOST | NURSING HOME above the address of the nursing home or residential facility.  It is imperative to include this in order to ensure delivery. Then swipe left to bypass the payment system and enter the voucher code: withlove (all lower case)…

The minister [Stephen Donnelly] said the Government’s plan is to “open back up in the first week of December”, adding that various methods of doing so will be considered closer to this time.

“It could be Level 3. There is a possibility that it might be Level 2, or maybe a regional approach would be taken.”

He said it is “very much our intention that retail is open for what is their most important time of the year“.
