In this impressive (and gory) graduation film by French animator Jeff Le Bars, a boy lost in the woods is presented with a chance of survival, but one that comes with a high price attached.

A charming short film about New Zealand inventor, artist and ‘organic mechanic’ Blair Somerville and the extraordinary recycled wonderland of his Lost Gypsy Gallery, directed by Joey Bania who sez of it:
In a remote corner of New Zealand’s South Island, tucked away among the last remaining tracts of native forest, lies a little-known place of wonder. It is the life’s work and extraordinary creation of inventor, artist and self-confessed tinkerer, Blair Somerville. For over ten years Blair has single-handedly owned, operated and ceaselessly expanded the Lost Gypsy Gallery, his wonderland of homegrown wizardry and a playground for kids and adults alike. Using only recycled materials, Blair takes DIY to artistic extremes. His creations are ingenious, interactive, and often hilariously impractical. They take many shapes and forms and share an uncanny ability to amaze, entertain and inspire.

UglyMugs.ie is a scheme which aims to improve the safety of sex workers in Ireland and reduce crimes committed against them.
It was established in 2009 and, since then, Irish sex workers have reported 4,000 incidents of crime and abuse against them.
It has now carried out the first ever victimisation survey of indoor sex workers in Ireland. A total of 195 female, male and trans escorts, from 29 different countries, took part in the research, almost 75% of whom have completed third-level education.
From the study:

Alicia in Ailis Mara for le cool Dublin’s 199th issue!.
By Steve Gallagher who sez:
“This a technique known as cinemagraph, which is a way of making a ‘moving still’. Ideally I would have liked an overcast day with some moving clouds in the background but unfortunately the Irish weather is always against you. The shoot was styled by the excellent Ruth Anna Coss with make-up by the wonderful Ciara Allen. Ailis Mara a recent NCAD graduate designed the piece being worn by Alicia from Distinct Model Management.
Everyone involved is working really hard in the Dublin fashion scene at the moment and they all kindly donated their time and skill. Everyone is from Dublin too, except for Ruth who is a Nordie but she’s paying her bin tax here now so we’ll let her away with it…”
