Starting TONIGHT.

Street Stories Festival, celebrating Dublin 7 life.

The organisers write:

“The event kicks off tonight with a talk by David Jazay on his photographic story of inner city Dublin in the 1980s and ’90s followed by a music session in the Cobblestone pub. Tomorrow we have talks throughout the day on subjects from the Mother and Baby homes, to Dublin in World War I, from Life in Medieval Smithfield to the Massacre in North King Street during the 1916 Rising and lots more. Saturday night will see Dublin’s favourite ska/reggae band The Bionic Rats rocking the Back Room of the Cobblestone and Sunday will be a relaxed day of walking tours and film showings [details below]…”

FG Seanad nominee John McNulty with Enda Kenny

When you’re giving a fellow a start,
In the Seanad it’s not very smart,
If you let your stroke,
Just go up in smoke,
‘Cause the lad doesn’t care about art.

The first ever recorded computer bug

We released a new version of the Broadsheet app last week with iPhone 6/6+ support and a lovely Today widget and for most people it’s been working fine.

But.

A small number of users are experiencing a crash when trying to view any post. Sorry. Unfortunately I’ve been unable to replicate the crash on any of my test devices so it’s proving to be a very frustrating bug hunt.

So I need your help.

If you’re one of these users and you’d like to give us a hand I would ask you to sign up to our Beta. Once you’ve signed up to TestFlight, register your iPhone with them and I’ll then be able to send you a test version of the app to make sure the bug is well and truly squished.

Mark Malone writes:

“Powerful video testimony by Paula Geraghty from some people living in the Direct Provision system. Cameras rarely make it inside for us to see the state of these places, and it’s even rarer for the public to see those most affected and marginalised by a clearly morally bankrupt (if economically profitable for some) way of treating our fellow humans.”

luaS

This morning.

Sean writes:

“I was riding the Green Line Luas at around 8.30am heading towards town. We pulled out of Beechwood [Luas station] and we’re on our way to Ranelagh when the top panel of first door beside the driver can blew out and shattered glass over everyone. I didn’t see anything hit the tram so thinking it could’ve been an air rifle or something. Luckily no one was hurt and the inspectors stopped us at Ranelagh had us exit the tram and proceeded to smash out the remaining glass before sending the tram back to the depot. Fairly shocking start to the morning though!”

Anyone?
