Shane is “well up” for doing artwork for a retro-themed computer game, if any of you have one of those in the making, and you can check his work out on his site or on his Facebook or tweet him here…

On last night’s Tonight with Ger Colleran, Ger was joined by Caroline Simons (Pro Life Campaign), Dr Máire Nesta Nic Ghearailt (Every Life Counts), Dr Peter Boylan (National Maternity Hospital Holles St) and Ruth Bowie (TFMR) to discuss abortion in cases of rape, incest and terminations for medical reasons (TFMR).
Ger Colleran: “You’re advocating that the medical or the legal prohibition on termination of such pregnancies [fatal foetal abnormalities] continue?”
Caroline Simons: “I’m advocating that the best position in the interests of women and in the interests of unborn babies is that there be a right to life for both and that the mother inevitably comes first because you cannot fail to look after a mother, without losing a baby as well.”

Eleanor Creighton writes:
“I’m working with choreographer Philip Connaughton on his show TARDIGRADE, which runs at Tiger Dublin Fringe from 9-13 September.
TARDIGRADE is a kaleidoscopic feast of raucous dance, luscious live music for choir, string quartet and piano, video projection, outlandish costumes… and a virtual dog.
It’s inspired by the microscopic world of tardigrades (which are extremely hardy little creatures that live in almost every habitat on earth — they’ve even been sent into the vaccum of space – and survived), along with the wild colour of [Hieronymus] Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights and Star Wars. It creates sensory overload — so you have to decide whether to focus on some tiny details or whether to let the madness whisk you away.”
Looking “distraught and tearful” at her press conference after the match, the Danish former world number one seemed to be playing the part of the weak, spurned woman – nursing a broken heart while her ex-fiancée was hitting the form of his life.
McIlory’s subsequent golfing achievements have been well recorded, but at this year’s US Open at Flushing Meadows, Wozniacki has been showing that hell hath no fury like a top tennis player scorned.
“Good to see the Irish Independent and Niamh Horan haven’t completely cornered the ludicrous reporting of womens’ sport market. I might be wrong, but I haven’t seen too many reports of Rory McIlroy’s achievements mentioning who his new ‘best friend forever’ is. There’s also this delightful typo: ‘After a double-bagel in the first round…’ Mmmm bagels…”
Bishop Martin Drennan (top) and The Connact Sentinel of August 19.
From The Irish Catholic:
Bishop of Galway Martin Drennan is demanding answers from the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) in Galway after it dished out thousands of euro to fund a permanent lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender resource centre there.
The grant to LGBT Galway, €45,000 over three years, was approved by the society’s Maureen O’Connell Fund [The Society of St Vincent de Paul in Galway received the €7.8 million bequest in 2007 from the sale of an Eyre Square pub belonging to the late Maureen O’Connell] as a contribution to a full-time resource centre which Galway City Council has pledged to provide.
Galway diocesan spokesman Fr Sean McHugh confirmed that Bishop Drennan had made contact with the SVP to seek further clarity on the issue.
“We want to keep in mind the good work that the St Vincent de Paul does throughout the country. We don’t know the full facts of the story yet,” he said.
