The Green machine is rolling.

Ireland’s preparations for the World Lacrosse Championships continued with a FULL exhibition game against Austria in Denver, Colorado.

Ireland won with a positively Germanic 14-4 scoreline.

Tom writes:

“The Irish attack line to work together to create plenty of chances. Kris Prior, Brian Gillis and Tom Riley all notched goals from that position, while Cillian Murphy also made a notable contribution to Ireland’s dominant offense…”

The opening ceremony of the tournament will take place on Thursday evening, followed by Ireland’s opening game of the tournament on Friday against Uganda.

More to folly.

Ireland V Japan scrimmage_-2

The Irish lacrosse team’s preparations for the World Championships ESCALATED yesterday as it took on Japan in a scrimmage held at Colorado Academy in the Lakewood section of Denver.

Tom Beary writing by candle light from Camp Ireland says:

We played a friendly last night against Japan who are the top 5 ranked team in the World.  Kevin Owens, Tom Burke, Mike McTernan and Brian Gillis showed hot hands at the offensive end, notching a few goals between them. The Japanese responded in kind however by converting a number of opportunities, with the contest concluding with a victory for the Japanese by a single goal.  It was a tight game throughout though, which bodes well for an Irish team

The build up continues..

Priest Alexander Shumsky seems to have taken particular exception to the brightly colored footwear on display in Brazil, writing in his column on Christian website Russian People’s Line that players who wear green, yellow, pink or blue shoes helped promote the “gay rainbow.”
“Wearing pink or blue shoes, [the players] might as well wear women’s panties or a bra,” Shumsky wrote, adding that he was also offended by the “unthinkable” hairstyles of some of the players in Brazil.

He’s one  to talk, in fairness…

Scenes from the Ireland Vs Australia tag rugby tests at the weekend in UCD Belfield.

Kieran Ryan writes:

“Ireland played Australia in a series of International Tag Rugby Tests at Uthe weekend; Men’s, Women’s, Mixed Senior (Over 30s), and Mixed Open. Each of the teams played each other twice, so there were 8 Tests in all.
Australia won both of the Women’s Tests and both of the Mixed Senior Tests but Ireland managed to defeat the Aussies in one of the Mixed Open Tests and one of the Men’s Tests. Basically, Ireland defeated Australia, the inventors of Tag Rugby and current world champions, in two International Tests which made it a very proud day indeed for Irish Tag Rugby.
The Australians will now tour Cork and Galway before arriving in Limerick on Thursday ahead of the next set of international tests which will take place in Old Crescent RFC, Dooradoyle, Limerick next Friday afternoon.”
