Dr Laurentiu Stefan, Romanian ambassador to Ireland, visits the Citywest vaccination centre  to monitor the distribution of 700,000 Pfizer/BioNtech Covid-19 vaccines recently purchased from Romania.

The deal was “a show of solidarity” with the Irish people, where the uptake of vaccination has been much higher than in Romania, according to Taoiseach Micheál Martin.

Rolling Stones – The Last Time (live in Dublin, 1965)

For the week that’s in it, in memory of Charlie Watts (top). The Last Time from the excellent documentary ‘Charlie is My Darling‘ (about the Rolling Stones’ second tour of Ireland on September 3-4, 1965)…. Name that Dublin flea-pit, anyone?

Rushes – Blue Ghost

Come rave with me in Ireland.

Cork songsmith Rushes (top) remembers good times on the new single from his album Glowchild.

Rushes says:

“It takes me back to the first rave I went to; that feeling of just floating and the raw, unfiltered atmosphere of the environment. It’s probably the most abrasive song on Glowchild – while the intro is quite melodic and lavish with that arpeggiated synth line, it leads into a harder hitting rave, club-inspired track.

“‘Blue Ghost’ is about attachment and spiralling out of control. As the song builds, I am trying to find something greater than the attachment and looking to make sense of it, whether it was good or not.”

Nick says: Glow in the dark.

A petition to reinstate Derry Dr Anne McCloskey, who was suspended from practising medicine after posting a video critical of the Covid vaccines has reached over 5,000 signatures.

The Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) suspended Dr McCloskey and banned her from working for all health and social care services after Dr McCloskey said she was “distraught” by the number of young people “damaged” by “unlicensed and unapproved” vaccines.

She said many young people have been “coerced, bribed or bullied” into being vaccinated and that vaccines are “malevolent”.
