Vie Irish Times:

Restaurateurs have called on the Government to bring forward the phasing-out of pandemic unemployment payments as they struggle to fill “thousands” of vacancies.

The PUP scheme is to be wound down from September but Adrian Cummins, chief of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, said “the Government should bring that forward” in sectors that have fully reopened.

People in two large restaurant groups who spoke on condition of anonymity said there was an acute labour shortage.

“If you want a job in Ireland, it’s there for you. That’s across all levels: management, customer service staff, what have you. It’s very difficult. We just can’t get people to work for us,” said a senior figure in one group who cited PUP as a big problem for the sector.

Via The Book Resort:

The Book Resort has today announced that they are eagerly awaiting the delivery of a new van, the first of hopefully many, along with increasing their team members. A demand in their beautiful bespoke gift boxes has led the Waterford business to take the next step in growing the family business.

The Book Resort was founded just over 18 months ago in Waterford, Ireland. Run by mother and son team, Aisling Finn and Liam Hayes, the business has gone from strength to strength. The ambitious team hope that this is the first of many vehicles that will soon be seen all over the south east.

Beginning as a book subscription service, the company quickly adapted during Covid to provide fabulous gift and subscription boxes internationally. The Book Resort only use Irish suppliers so every sale has a domino effect in the Irish market.

We are currently seeking a delivery driver on Indeed.ie and interested applicants should apply directly before August 15th 2021.

In fairness.

Soda so good.

When the Norwegians kicked up a stink
About swimwear did they ever think
That the fine they would pay
Would be picked up by, say
The American pop singer Pink?

Behold: Neptune and its moon Triton captured together during the planet’s crescent phase by the Voyager 2 spacecraft. To wit:

The elegant picture of the ice-giant planet and its cloudy moon was taken from behind just after closest approach in 1989. It could not have been taken from Earth because Neptune never shows a crescent phase to sunward Earth. The unusual vantage point also robs Neptune of its familiar blue hue, as sunlight seen from here is scattered forward, and so is reddened like the setting Sun. Neptune is smaller but more massive than Uranus, has several dark rings, and emits more light than it receives from the Sun.
