The US Supreme Court has rejected Donald Trump’s bid to reverse Pennsylvania’s certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the electoral battleground
Having failed to come first in the race
Trump then took a very weak case
All the way to the top
But the judges said “Stop”
And the whole thing fell flat on its face

“The slugs had it all winter long and they’d eaten every €50 note, everything except the metal strips. My wallet was full of slugs, my bag was full of slugs, my purse was full of slugs,” says Kathleen from Galway. @joeliveline#Liveline
Continuing our series of underrated Irish music since 1960, we salute Dublin guitar gods The Revenants who rocked the joint in the 1990s.
Led by Stephen Ryan (top left today), formerly of The Stars Of Heaven and currently of The Drays, this stream-of-consciousness meditation on life, death and fat white geese begins with the singer taking a leisurely stroll while listening to cult indie icon Scott Miller (Game Theory and The Loud Family) on his Walkman.
It’s still breathtaking after all these years.
“Still we’ll have time enough to remember the ones who leave
Though they hardly care to go
To the garden, the garden of moraine
Under the cedar tree.”
The hanging guitar chords come courtesy of Conor Brady with the line-up completed by Ryan (vocals and guitar), Don Ryan (keyboards), Naeem Bismillah (bass) and Chris Heaney (drums).
The song appeared on the Revenants’ second album Septober Nowonder in 1999.

Jack Chambers, Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs and Sport; Sinn Féin TD Padraig Mac Lochlainn
This morning/afternoon.
Via Irish Times:
The Cabinet has approved an increased allowance for the party whips including an increase from €10,000 to €19,000 for the Sinn Féin whip Pádraig Mac Lochlainn. Sources confirmed that the assistant Sinn Féin whip will receive an increase from €5,000 to €9,500.
The Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil whips will receive €10,000 while the Green Party, Solidarity, Labour and Social Democrats whips will receive a €6,000 allowance.
Sources have also confirmed that a new system of extra payments for the three “super junior” ministers sitting at the Cabinet table will commence on Tuesday. They will share €32,000 worth of allowances between them – rather than getting a €16,000 allowance each.
[Jack Chambers, Hildegarde Naughton and Pippa Hackett have ‘waived’ this increased allowance, according to a Government spokesperson]
