Exchequer Street Boy (James Kavanagh)!

As you’ve never seen him before (i.e. not tottering on large heels)

James joins others to extol the benefits of Belong To, Ireland’s national organisation for LGBT young people.

It was Belong To (and dramatic footwear) that helped make James the boy he is today.

Hugh Rodgers, of Belong To, writes:

Hoping you might post our film celebrating the 10th anniversary of Belong To, Ireland’s national organisation for LGBT young people.

Ten Years of BeLonGing’ is a short documentary which shares the reflections of some of Belong To’s allies over the last ten years including Emily Logan – Ombudsman for Children, Niall Crowley – former CEO of the Equality Authority, Senator David Norris, Cllr. Anna Quigley – Belong To Chairperson, Donal Óg Cusak – All Ireland Hurling Champion, and Frances Fitzgerald TD – Minister for Children & Youth Affairs. The video also features former young members of BeLonG To and contributions from staff on the work of the organisation over the last ten years.

00114424Who will Joe for the Joes?

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has upheld two complaints about a Liveline programme broadcast on 5 March.

A listener claimed that presenter Joe Duffy had harassed the editor of the Catholic monthly newspaper Alive and that callers to the show had also abused Fr Brian McKevitt.

The priest had written an article in the magazine in which he compared Taoiseach Enda Kenny to King Herod.

Shaun O’Connor writes:

I just released this music video I made for two modern-classical musicians. All of the footage you see of them playing was shot against a greenscreen in a studio in Cork city… I then shot the background landscapes around Cork and Kerry (Gougane Barra, Carrantuohill etc) and spent a month (or two) combining them all together, adding special effects etc.

Are you partial to the moodily-lit robots at all?

If so, you may like one or both of these robo-related sci-fi shorts currently on the Vimeo staff picks list:

Tonight I Strike by Dan Gaud in which a big brother desperately tries to find his abducted little sister.

And Dr Easy by Shynola (the prologue of a planned feature film based on the novel ‘The Red Men’ by Matthew De Abaitua) in which a holed-up man with a gun is approached by a medical robot sent in to negotiate with him.
