Bill Clinton and Enda Kenny at a Clinton Foundation event at New York University in February, 2012

As you may be aware Irish Aid, the Government development agency, donated $5 million to $10 million to the Clinton Foundation.

Further to this.

For years, Clinton partisans have blindly defended every criticism of the Clinton Foundation by pointing to the good work the charity has done.

But the WikiLeaks emails from John Podesta, Hillary Clinton‘s campaign chair, have confirmed nearly every criticism of the Clinton Foundation, debunking the claim that it is solely a philanthropic endeavor run by the Clintons.

Jeff Stein, a writer at the generally pro-Clinton Vox, rescinded previous claims he made that the Clinton Foundation wasn’t used to personally enrich the family’s wealth after WikiLeaks released an email revealing Chelsea Clinton used the foundation to direct investors to her husband’s hedge fund and treated Clinton Foundation funds as a personal bank account.

“His raising money for his own fund hasn’t been going well and he has cvc making some calls for him to get mtgs with some clinton people,”

Teneo president Doug Band, who has some close ties with the foundation, wrote in a January 2012 email to Podesta and other Clinton staff:

“Marc has invited several potential investors and a few current business ones to the poker night. I assume all are contributing to the foundation, which of course isn’t the point. What is the point is that he is doing precisely what he accused me of doing as the entire plan of his has been to use this for his business which he is.”

Previously-released emails have revealed a pay-to-play exchange between the government of Morocco and then-Secretary of State Clinton. Ukrainian billionaire Victor Pinchuk used his prolific donations to the Clinton Foundation to solicit political favors….

What you may need to know

1. Moscow Never Sleeps is a Russian-language drama written and directed by Irish filmmaker Johnny O’Reilly. It has been on the festival circuit since last year, and goes on general release this Friday 11th

2. The film is a multi-narrative story set during one day in the Russian capital, where a range of characters find themselves at an impasse in their lives.

3. A terminally-ill movie star, absconds from his hospital bed only to find himself mixed up with a gang of petty thieves. A businessman runs into trouble with dodgy State representatives while his singer wife considers leaving him for an old flame; a pair of squabbling step-sisters go for a night on the tiles only to find their lives in danger. And so on.

4. As one might see from the trailer, the real star of the film is Moscow itself. The director, a resident of the city for the past 10 years and a regular visitor for the past 20, brings audiences on a trek around the city, from its tallest skyscrapers to its scruffiest streets. The soaring shots are a real treat for the curious, and a quite different perspective of the city than what we’re used to in this part of the world.

5. O’Reilly got himself in a bit of hot water last year during this promotional interview for the film, which was cut short when he expressed support for jailed Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov.

6. Moscow Never Sleeps takes its title from a popular English-language phrase in the city. According to the filmmaker, everyone knows “hello”, “goodbye”, and “Moscow Never Sleeps”.

proxypoll

The IBD/TIPP poll — a collaboration between Investor’s Business Daily (IBD) and TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence (TIPP) — has been the most accurate poll in recent US presidential elections.

The final poll included 1,107 likely voters, and is based on weighted results of 361 Democrats, 333 Republicans, and 381 people who identify as independents or other. The final poll, which has a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points, was conducted from Nov. 4 through Nov. 7.

The poll shows Clinton doing better among women (44% to 40%), minorities (64% to 13%), urban voters (56% to 25%), the nonreligious (55% to 22%), and union households (48% to 41%).

Trump does better among men (46% to 38%), whites (51% to 34%), investors (48% to 42%), rural voters (58% to 29%) and those who describe themselves as working class (43% to 42%) or lower-class households (41% to 30%).

Trump also does better among independents (39% to 31%), with Johnson capturing a strong 16% of this group’s support.
