Bob Geldof and Mary Robinson and a Macnas Bono at the One Young World summit in The National Convention Centre, Dublin last night.

Young people of the world.

You will all die horribly soon-ish.

Geldof said he know has that sense of foreboding – that one tiny event could shatter fragile international peace.
“Look at Ukraine, where once again another country can just walk in,can’t we do very little about it.
“Thank god there are no black flags today for those murderers in IS.
“Where is the little spark, that for no reason at all, will set off the next consecration?”
“I don’t know about you,but there is something deep and scary going on.”

Um.

Deputy Clare Daly this morning raised the issue of employees of Hertz Car Hire who were paid an hourly rate of €2.46. The national minimum wage is €8.65 per hour.

The employees were told the figure was due to “emergency tax” and it would be rectified.

Hertz rely heavily on European workers who are more vulnerable the deputy said.

Deputy Daly described it as fraud. Minister of State at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Ged Nash said it was a criminal offence.

Fuppin’ rental, in fairness.

Young Dubliners.

A second Le Cool cover by Dublin-born-but-studying-in-Wales photographer Daragh Soden.

Daragh sez:

“I had just started working on a project called Young Dubliners (a work in progress) and saw this couple just chilling at the back of the bus. They had such slick style, I knew they would make a great shot but it takes balls to ask people for their photograph, it’s nerve-racking. I sat for a while and eventually built up the courage to ask, and of course they were cool about it. So I wobbled about as the bus swung round corners and they just sat indifferent to being looked at, they had real confidence, self-assured.“

Scenes from Djerbahood – a festival curated by Tunisian-French artist Mehdi Ben Cheikh at the ancient multicultural (Christian, Muslim and Jewish) village of Erriadh on the Tunisian island of Djerba.

Last July and August, 150 artists from 30 countries were invited to leave their mark on the walls of the town, symbolising connections with the outside world.
