The first ever recorded computer bug

We released a new version of the Broadsheet app last week with iPhone 6/6+ support and a lovely Today widget and for most people it’s been working fine.

But.

A small number of users are experiencing a crash when trying to view any post. Sorry. Unfortunately I’ve been unable to replicate the crash on any of my test devices so it’s proving to be a very frustrating bug hunt.

So I need your help.

If you’re one of these users and you’d like to give us a hand I would ask you to sign up to our Beta. Once you’ve signed up to TestFlight, register your iPhone with them and I’ll then be able to send you a test version of the app to make sure the bug is well and truly squished.

“Powerful video testimony by Paula Geraghty from some people living in the Direct Provision system. Cameras rarely make it inside for us to see the state of these places, and it’s even rarer for the public to see those most affected and marginalised by a clearly morally bankrupt (if economically profitable for some) way of treating our fellow humans.”

“I was riding the Green Line Luas at around 8.30am heading towards town. We pulled out of Beechwood [Luas station] and we’re on our way to Ranelagh when the top panel of first door beside the driver can blew out and shattered glass over everyone. I didn’t see anything hit the tram so thinking it could’ve been an air rifle or something. Luckily no one was hurt and the inspectors stopped us at Ranelagh had us exit the tram and proceeded to smash out the remaining glass before sending the tram back to the depot. Fairly shocking start to the morning though!”

Anyone?

“We are  appealing for information in relation to a Terrier puppy found wandering on the Dublin Road in Portlaoise on the morning on 17 September 2014.
The dog, now named Missy, was discovered by a good Samaritan…a tight chord had been tied around her tail as a form of tourniquet and the tail then cut off. The area under the base of the tail had swelled up due to the trauma inflicted…”

If you recognise Missy please contact the ISPCA National Animal Cruelty Helpline on 1890 515 515.

Veteran BBC filmmaker Peter Taylor has said in a programme to be shown on Monday night that the ‘war’ was ultimately won by the British Government and unionists.

The English-born journalist, who has made almost 100 films in Northern Ireland over four decades returned to mark the 20th anniversary of the IRA and Loyalist ceasefires. He met high-profile figures again to ask whether they still agreed with past interviews, questioning Martin McGuinness [above] about claims that it would only be the “cutting edge of the IRA” that would bring about freedom.

Who Won the War? is on BBC One on Monday at 9pm.
