A vintage style monochrome stop-motion short by Belgian director Soetkin Verstegen who describes it as a “miniature cinema inside an ice cube”, inspired by the true story of a century-old box of negatives found preserved in the ice of Antarctica.
Behold: the Cyber Supra – an angular vision of the Toyota Supra in the style of the Tesla Cybertruck and the absurdly expensive Karlmann King SUV.
Created by conceptual automotive design studio FLAT HAT ( a term used by WW2 pilots to describe unauthorized low altitude flying techniques), the Cyber Supra’s radar-dodging polygonal body panels are also bulletproof.
Social distancing guidelines were not followed here at the ‘M50 Christmas Shop’ in this photo I took before Christmas which clearly shows a breach. You would have thought that the three wise men would have known better…
We kick off 2021 with innovative Dublin rappers The Elements who reach for the stars with this single from their forthcoming EP Art Of The Vandal (top).
Daragh O’Kelly plays piano and NDLZ plays guitar, with Ricki Rawness on production duties.
David Conroy of XoZen1 Films directs and edits the trippy universe-straddling promo.
The band write:
“The Elements challenge their listeners to take the journey into their world, their songs are an abstract, objective and a somewhat psychedelic surrealist experience as an alternative to the now formulaic objective “struggles” of reality in Irish Hip-Hop.”
Personal apology: I wish to apologise concerning my participation in the Waterford Whispers News item on the NYE show on RTE 1 on New Year’s Eve. Truly I am deeply sorry for the offence, distress and hurt caused. It was wrong for me. It was wrong of me. Aengus Mac Grianna.
Further to the “approximately 3,500 emails and 1,250 calls” regarding the Waterford Whispers sketch segment in the RTÉ One New Year’s Eve countdown programme….
Via RTÉ News:
In the Waterford Whispers news report, God is described as being “the latest figure to be implicated in ongoing sexual harassment scandals”.
The sketch, which was presented by Mr Mac Grianna, has received thousands of complaints and as well as calls for it to be removed from the RTÉ Player.
The clip ended with a line that movie producer Harvey Weinstein, who is serving a 23-year sentence in the US for rape and sexual assault, had “requested for a retrial in Ireland”.
The sketch remains on the RTÉ Player, but a warning says that “viewer discretion is advised”.
