Released yesterday, ShipAntics – The Legend of the Kiki Beast is the latest puzzle game from Dublin based StoryToys.

They describe it as

ShipAntics stars a madcap crew of seafaring adventurers: Captain Fred, the warm-hearted skipper of the Barnacle, Amanda his precocious, wild and wide-eyed daughter, and Otto, a cheeky young tall-tale touting Octopus. Your orders are to help Amanda and Otto as they venture into the wild blue yonder, solving mysteries and puzzles with Fred and the rest of the crew of the Barnacle.

Which actually boils down to it being a nice little point-and-click type adventure game that reminds me of the glory days of Monkey Island.

It’s a cute little game and the obviously high production values make it a delight to play.

The app is available now on the Apple App Store for €1.99.

Controversial ‘Alternative Weatherman’ Ken Ring

The MuckSavage writes:

“Sitting in the office and decided to check what this ‘nutter’ predicted in January.
‘Temperatures are fairly constantly in the 20s after the 19th July, with the final three or four days in July possibly among the hottest for the season’.
Give this man a medal!”

The Garda Band

The Irish Daily Mail reports that former Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan is holding his farewell party at Westmanstown Garda Club in Clonsilla Dublin tonight – with 300 guests expected to attend and tickets costing €40.

Ali Bracken reports (not online):

A quartet from the Garda Band have been refused permission to play at a retirement party for ex-commissioner Martin Callinan, according to well-placed sources. Insiders say that the musicians were willing to play at the function tonight but that senior management refused the request.
…
Senior security sources say senior officers are ‘astounded’ that musicians from the Garda Band are not scheduled to perform at the event organised by the Retired Garda Association. Insiders said: ‘It is normal practice for some music to be played at such events by representatives from the Garda Band. There is huge upset and shock over this.’

You will learn to print, troubleshoot and experiment with colour and printing techniques – and leave with your very own limited edition prints!”
