The Last Of Us Part 2

What you may need to know:

1. Games spending has continued to thrive as lockdown continues with spending on digital games recorded at $10.46B in June 2020. This is the second highest total ever after April’s $10.54B spend and another $10.2B in May.

2. The big winner on console this summer was The Last of Us Part 2 which sold 2.8M digital units in June, even though it’s only available on Playstation. Pent up demand in the form of pre-orders for TLOU2 accounted for over two thirds of June’s sales.

3. On PC, Valorant from Riot Games had the biggest launch ever for a free-to-play PC title. Also doing well on PC in June was Valve’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, but its numbers were down for the second month in a row suggesting that players are moving from CS:GO to Valorant.

4. Some existing games received a boost this Summer with the release of either new seasons or expansion packs. The new season of Destiny 2, combined with preorders for the Beyond Light expansion due in November resulted in a 45% increase in player count and a 221% increase in revenue in June.

5. The same goes for Pokémon Sword & Shield which recorded its highest monthly digital earnings since launch as a result of the mid-June release of the Isle of Armor expansion pack.

6. On mobile, Pokémon GO earnings were up 12% year on year. Due to its reliance on Augmented Reality, it could have been one of the few titles to have been negatively impacted by lockdown as it is designed to be played outside. Instead Pokémon GO moved to selling remote raid passes at the end of April, which allowed players to join in-game battles without the need to travel to certain physical locations.

US President Donald Trump claimed Dr. Anthony Fauci (top left), director of the American National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has misled the country on hydroxychloroquine.

He also retweeted a speech by Dr Stella Immanuel (above) on the steps of the US Capitol Hill claiming the malaria drug is a ‘cure for the virus’.

The video was taken down by Twitter citing misinformation regulations after Trump shared it with his 84 million followers

Via Mail Online:

Trump retweeted a post that claimed Dr.Fauci is leading the country in the wrong direction by refusing to endorse the use of the anti-malaria drug in combating COVID-19.

Dr Immanuel slammed ‘fake doctors’ who doubt the efficacy of the drug, and claimed it’s a ‘cure’, adding ‘you don’t need a mask.’

‘If some fake science comes out and says we’ve done studies and they found out that it doesn’t work, I can tell you categorically it’s fake science,’ she said.

‘I want to know who’s conducted that study and who’s behind it. Because there is no way I have treat 350 patients and counting and nobody is dead,’ she said on how she allegedly treated patients with hydroxychloroquine along with zinc, and Zithromax.

Eamon Ryan, Minister for Climate Action, Communication Networks and Transport at the launch of a public consultation on the Emerging Preferred Route  (top) for Luas Finglas at Luas Broombridge Depot this morning

This morning.

A Luas extension to Finglas will put a ‘grass track’ through three local parks, according to the plan that has been drawn up by Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

Via RTÉ:

The 4km Finglas track would provide four extra stops on the Green Line, as well as 600 spaces for a new park and ride facility at the new terminus at Charlestown.

The route going out for public consultation would go through Tolka Valley Park, Barnamore Grove linear park and Mellows Park.

A brochure [at link below] published by TII and the National Transport Authority for public consultation states that this will allow most of the new section to be a grass track, which is “an attractive innovation for urban transport in Ireland”.

Kevin and Carol, friendly emus who wander Yaraka in Queensland, have been barred from the only pub in the town

When a Sheila pops out for a drink
In Yaraka she’s won’t smell the stink
As the emus no more
Leave their mess on the floor
A major improvement, I think
