Tonight.

Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin

Via Irish Socialist Republicans:

Earlier this evening Ani Imperialist Action and Macradh activists unveiled a large banner on the ‘Victoria Monument’ in Dún Laoghaire that reads ‘Tear Down the Genocide Queen’.

Victoria, the English monarch presided over the Irish Genocide of the 1840s and the execution of the Fenian Prisoners. It is shameful to have a monument glorifying English Imperialism

Torn down by local Republicans in the 1980s, the monument was shamefully rebuilt by a pro imperialist Fine Gael council in the early 2000s.

Irish Socialist Republicans believe it’s long past time that the monument and all symbols of British Colonialism are torn down.

In the coming weeks the Campaign Against Colonialism will continue to be built.

Mayo Lockdown – Bohemian Rhapsody

Thought you might like this! 40 musicians (and a couple of the Mayo GAA football team) from Castlebar [County Mayo] remotely tackling Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody for the St. Vincent de Paul.

In fairness.

Name those Mayo players, anyone?

Two Cheeks of The Same Arse

Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael
Civil war parties,with one aim
To sell poets’ dreams to the highest bidder
Sworn enemies once,now cosy bedfellows

Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dee
Selling to you the same old scam
Whilst selling the country to Uncle Sam
Traitors all, to a man

Traitors all, to dead men’s dreams
Overseeing homeless people on our streets
Covering up evil crimes, of church and state
A terrible beauty born, soon turned to hate

As they deny the people’s democratic will
The desire for real change they’ll ignore
They’ll watch more innocents shown the door
As their corrupt rich backers
demand more and more

You scratch my back,I’ll scratch yours
Tweedle Dee and Dumb, a pair of cute whores
Born of idealism, now resident in respective sewers
For what ails these corrupt, there is no cure

For Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael
Civil war parties with only one aim
Everything in Ireland is for sale
our common wealth, our hopes, dreams and desires

dreams that they, have long denied
Dreams of dead martyrs, they have failed
As with the greens they plot and scheme
In the septic isle ,dead babies still scream

As Fianna Fáil, and Fine Gael
Set out their stall, hear them call
Two soulless whores, Two cheeks of the same arse,
See them embrace and dance in this, a Machiavellian farce

Physical Distancing guidelines for pubs

Kev writes:

Have you seen the actual guidelines proposed for bars (see above)?  They are either trying to kill the pub or destroy any sense of community a pub can provide. I would love to know why.

f_lawless writes:

There’s a feeling of inevitability about this descent into absurdity. The Irish ruling class don’t do accountability.

A policy reversal is unthinkable. Instead of holding their hands up and admitting the blanket shutdowns were an overreaction – that it’s time to open up and let citizens take responsibility for their individual behaviours, they’re now desperately trying to save face and keep the narrative going with these overly-cautious trade-off measures.

It doesn’t matter that nowhere in Europe has seen a sustained rise in cases after easing lockdowns or holding mass gatherings in recent times. Arbitrary numbers are plucked out of the sky.

How can any citizen have respect for an authority that will tell them to obey a 105 minute time limit for their own good when it’s plainly obvious that taking personal responsibility completely overrides that? If anything, setting a short time limit may encourage rapid binge-drinking in some.

Stretched, reinforced and tricked out with mag wheels and knobbly tyres, the iconic 1930s bike (still in production today) has been exquisitely decorated with custom-etched velocity stacks, a bespoke tank, upgraded instrumentation and a host of brass plates, badges and panels.

A work of custom art in black and gold, but only for looking at.
